Doglog 10.04.2010
2010.04.16.

A lot of animals came under our care this week as well. Our "Cat Department" had the most difficult task, as many timid and traumatized animals are awaiting rehabilitation. However, we are optimistic as always. Let’s see our new animals!

Dodo was found wounded in Isaszeg, near the rails. Probably he was hit by a train. He came to us through the Sad Heart Foundation in Gyömrő. He is a young labrador mixed breed, he had a brown leather collar around his neck. His injuries are serious but he is not in mortal peril. At the beginning he didn’t trust anyone (probably due to his injuries and pain), nevertheless, our volunteers gained his trust in a short period of time. He is a very kind dog who loves to give kisses.

Lidérc (Ghost) was found at Soroksári Road, also injured. Now she is under medical care. She is a German shepherd mixed breed. For two weeks we are looking for her original owner!

Ficsúr was found almost at the same spot, at Soroksári Road, by one of our volunteers. He is friendly towards other dogs and is used to being transported in a car. For two weeks we are looking for his original owner!

Shakira was found at the side of a road with heavy traffic by a volunteer. She is approximately 3 months old, so she is in the age when she can get used to almost anything, and an easy socialization is still possible. She will be a small or middle-sized dog when she grows up.

Lora was found in Pestszentlőrinc, lying under a bush. She is a ca. 2 years old, small-sized dog, without a chip. Probably she had an accident, she was in the state of a slight shock, and her left hip bone was broken. When she was taken in, she bit the volunteers due to the shock and pain, but after some hours she took the medical treatment without aggression. At the moment she is under medical care.

Simy was found in Isaszeg where she was wandering alone. She is a friendly, ca. 2 year-old dog. She has no problems with other dogs and walks nicely on leash.

Zeus was given to us by his own owner due to behavioural problems. He walks nicely on leash. His tail must have been amputed due to an earlier injury. He is a pure Newfoundland, gets along easily with females, and not dominant with males either. He needs some attention, though.

Lindt was sitting at a road between Monor and Pilis when we picked him up. He is a ca. one and a half year-old, reddish brown Pomeranian. He seems litter trained. For two weeks we are looking for his original owner!

And now some touching news: Devlon’s original owners have been found!
Her owner died several weeks ago, and Devlon, that is, Arséne, strayed from home – maybe she wanted to attend the burial ceremony. After a long search we found the family who came to pick her up immediately. We hope she will be happy with them for a long time!

Kasza (Scythe) and Krumpli (Potato) found a new owner.

And now let’s see what happened to the cats! The girls definitely have some challenging weeks ahead, as seven new cats have been received, all of them adults and very untrusting. They are afraid of humans so now it’s Kata’s and her team’s task to resocialize the animals and make real cats out of the timid little creatures.

Tudor (Doc), the only buck

Vidor (Happy)

Morgó (Grumpy)

Szende (Bashful)

Kuka (Dopey)

Szundi (Sleepy)

and Hapci (Sneezy)

Vadóc (Madcap) and Mázli (Lucky) found a new owner.

We still owe you a short report on the adoption day held at Zoodom. Our helping volunteer, Móni wrote:

"I was happy to participate in this event again together with my good friend, Anikó. The day started nicely as the company, as always, was cheerful; several temporary adopters and the Rodent Rescue Team joined us for the day. And, of course, our animals were there, too, who were brought there with the hope of finding a new owner for them. Ági’s little bunny was quite patient while a swarm of children caressed him. Time was flying, and I can say the day was successful as three of our doggies found a new family, and a lot of people asked us about adoption possibilities. The Rodent Rescue Team even found a new little protegee at Zoodom. These events always make me feel good, on these occasions we see that it’s worth doing the job. Even though the temporary adopters are always sad when they have to say goodbye to the animal they have taken care of for months, we know that there are a lot of abandoned, unlucky animals waiting for us, who have to be helped out and who has no other hope but us, the animal rescue volunteers. Such challenges make us keep doing the rescue operations, and these events offer a good opportunity to make people more aware of the activities of our animal home. Thank you for the directors of Zoodom for granting us this opportunity. "

We’ve got some news from our adopters as well. Let’s see some of the letters we received!

"Brian is a really loveable cat. I adopted him to accompany my other cat, Joey, who will turn 3 this month. Brian will be one year-old this May. We plan to throw a big birthday party for him. The two cats have made good friends, and they simply love making noise, especially during the night and in the morning, so we don’t need an alarm clock anymore.
We love both of them very much, they are real treasures for my family. Brian is very intelligent and healthy (he had some mites at the beginning but now everything’s fine). He grew into a big, playful adult, who doesn’t have any problems with living with one eye, even though he is more cautious at times. He usually doesn’t dare to climb up to the wardrobe, but sometimes he tries and when he succeeds, he gets a big applaus. I taught him how to fetch his toys, just like dogs do. He brings the toy happily to me and waits patiently until I throw it away for him to fetch. He also learned to sit down before getting a treat. I only had to tell him several times: "Brian, sit", and then he already knew what to do! He loves being cuddled, and of course he sleeps in our bed. He curls up beside me, puts his head on my arm and waits for the usual cuddling. You wouldn’t even recognize him, he grew so beautiful and large. He was neutered last November. He is usually silent, but if it comes to food he is not shy to claim what is rightfully his!
Thank you for giving Brian to me! "

"Dear volunteers at the Noah’s Ark! I’m Makett, who was renamed Muki 26 August 2009, when Anita took me here to my new family. Now I have a new playmate and I’m the boss! I know all the dogs in the vicinity and all of them tremble of fear by hearing my name! My family tells me I bring love and happiness to their lives. Thank you for your kind invitation, we’ll be there on Sunday, maybe I’ll take my friend with me as well, but it depends on how he behaves, of course.
I send a photo of myself, it’s good enough to be put on an advertising poster!
Kisses,
Makett alias Muki"

On Saturday, the boys continued working hard in order to make everything ready in time. Let’s see some pics of their heroic effort!

And now some funny pics about the events on Saturday:

We would like to draw your attention to a new way to support us!
You can help by clicking and using a Google-based searching site, as well as by making this site: http://keresve.hu/noeallatotthon your home page. This does not cost a penny, all you have to do is to click!

This is a broadly used and accepted method of support abroad which is, however, new in Hungary. By using this page as your home page, you influence the amount of money the site receives from advertisements, and through this, the amount of money that is given to the shelter. The keresve.hu site gives an opportunity to those who do not have the necessary financial sources, time or energy, to support the shelter. Please support us by using this free way of donation!

The money the site's owner (World Development Foundation) receives from advertisements is distributed among the registered civil organizations (and among them, our shelter) according to the visitors' votes. The statistics of the site will be publicly available.
