Doglog 13. 03. 2010
2010.03.16.

Let's start this week's post with some great news: from April 2010 the animal shelter will be open on Sundays as well, between 10 am and 2 pm! We are looking forward to seeing you there!

And now let's see the animals that came under our care this week. Again, they are many, and most of them are sick and injured.

Szemőke was seen to roam along the M3 highway. She had a collar and a leash. We are looking for her ORIGINAL OWNER! There is an untreated injury on one of her eyes.

Foxi came to us after a long time spent on the waiting list. He was found 2 months ago. Those who found him wanted to keep him for life but it was impossible due to family reasons, so he was given to us. He is very shy, doesn't trust people, but we hope this will change with time!

The Leves (Soup) family was brought to us in the middle of the week. These three female puppies were found at the gates of a house. Now they are housed at temporary adopters. The future owner has to take into consideration that the puppies will show their real personality only after adoption, and they will start to do mischiefs and chew. Slippers and shoes will not be safe, neither the tapestry or the carpet! They also has to be litter trained. We give them for adoption after antiparasitic treatment, vaccination and with a microchip. Hey must be neutralized!

Borsóleves (Pea soup)

Krumplileves (Potato soup)

és Zöldbableves (Green bean soup)

Next day the Csipet Csapat arrived from Gyál. The dogs were kept by a poor family who were not able even to feed them properly, so they gave us the dogs – it's a pity that they didn't do it before the puppies were born.

Csipi (Chirrup), the mother

And a male, Csapi, who has a 3-week old injury on his head. Now he is under medical treatment. Unfortunately antibiotics didn't help so we changed his medication. An X-ray examination also has to be done as there is a hole in his skull; his left eye is missing.

Bill the beagle was found next to a road in the 17th district. He has a leather collar. We are looking for his ORIGINAL OWNER for two weeks! He is well groomed and cared for, so we hope he'll find his rightful owner soon!

Unfortunately this week did not pass without some animal cruelty stories. Gyoma came to our care from Békéscsaba.

„Yesterday night the police called us that they received a call from Bucsa, which said, a woman in town was visited by her boyfriend, and as the woman's dog did not grow to like him, he and two of his friends decided to kill the dog. First they attempted to kill him with a rifle but after several shots they continued to torture the animal with an iron pipe. At the time the police arrived the dog was already in shock. We took him to Békéscsaba, the nearby city, in the middle of the night, and found a vet who was willing to treat him. At the moment we know that his jaw is broken, and he needs immediate surgery in order to survive! Unfortunately the only veterinarian specialized in bone surgeries is on holiday at the moment. We cannot treat him, therefore we ask for help to keep him alive. In his present state he cannot eat or drink.
He is a 5-year-old male, spent his life tied to a tree. The police could cut his chain other than with a cutting torch.

Gyoma has undergone the surgery, and luckily, everything went fine. He is only able to eat mashed food, and his teeth must be treated as many of them broke due to the beating. These must be treated, and some of them must be pulled out. He is a very friendly, cooperative dog who loves to give kisses!

The Pindúr Pandúr (Powerpuff Girls) family was found by two girls in a bush. Unfortunately they couldn't take them home but they did not give up, came to us, and together we found a temporary adopter for them (as they couldn't stay at the shelter without vaccination). They are very curious, playful and active. As for their size, they will be small and middle-sized as adults.
We would like to find them an owner who is aware of the problems a puppy can cause: litter training, leash training, chewed slippers, shoes, newspapers and carpets...
Their vaccination has started, we give them for adoption after antiparasitic treatment, with microchip. They must be neutralized!

Sultan's owner had died and the heirs were not willing to keep him, so they took him to a vet for extermination – that's how he came under our care. Despite his old age he is courting Hetti, one of the elderly dog ladies at the shelter.

Kornél came to us after a long time spent on the waiting list. He was abandoned on the road. He is a big, very friendly dog, but he is very jelaous if it comes to food.

Maya was left on the road by her previous owner, one of our volunteers took her in. She is a nice but shy, young bitch, somewhat afraid of strangers. She does not destroy anything in the flat even though she has some problems with litter training.

The Csepke family was left at the gates of the shelter early on Sunday morning. We would like to house them at a temporary adopter as we cannot house them at the shelter before they are vaccinated.

Our residents received more than 600 kg of pet food from the courtesy of FPD Ltd. Thank you very much!

They found a new owner:

Pergamen (Parchment), who will share his new home with other greyhounds.
Gombóc (Dumpling) for whom the new owners waited with balloons.
Sharon

and, after 9 months spent with us, Cirok also found a dream family! At the beginning he only visited his new family for several hours in order not to be separated from his temporary adopter too quickly. At last, with broken heart, our volunteer Little Kathy gave him to his new owners. We wish a happy and long life to little Cirok!

Unfortunately, 4 of our dogs left us and went through the Rainbow Bridge this week. We hope that now they are not in pain anymore and that the last weeks that they spent with us could compensate a little bit for all the bad things they suffered from humans. God bless you Füles, Tóbiás, Brúnó and Tanárnő (Teacher)!

Life did not stop at the Mini Shelter either. From the dogcatcher's yard at Illatos Road we received:
Algernon

Alvin, who has a broken leg

and Tücsök (Cricket) the young mixed breed (pointer / basset hound)

A new dog under the care of the Cane Corso Rescue Team: Ziva, found in Alsónémedi. We are looking for his ORIGINAL OWNER for two weeks!

Sunday means excursion! 14 March we visited the Private Zoo and Amusement Park in Abony. We heard about them first from a TV show where the park's owner, Tibor Tóth talked about their dreams, the zoo, the hard work that was needed to build it, and the obstacles and problems they had to face and they struggle with even today.

The zoo is not far from Budapest, you can get there within the hour. It is worthwile to visit them!

We are looking for performing volunteers!
We would like to find dancing groups, singers, any kind of performing artists without age limits, who would be willing to participate in the events of the animal shelter and support our work.
First of all we are looking for groups who have some experience and are not afraid to stand up in front of our visitors. Participating in our events will also give them some routine.
We are looking forward to receiving your short introduction at the info@noeallatotthon.hu e-mail address!

We would like to draw your attention to a new way of supporting us!
You can help by clicking and using a Google-based searching site, as well as by making this site: http://keresve.hu/noeallatotthon your home page. This does not coast a penny, all you have to do is click!

This is a broadly used and accepted method of support abroad which is, however, new in Hungary. By using this page as your home page, you influence the amount of money the site receives from advertisements, and through this, the amount of money that is given to the shelter. The keresve.hu site makes those who do not have the necessary financial sources, time or energy, able to support the shelter. Please support us by using this free way of donation!
The money the site's owner (World Development Foundation) receives from advertisements is distributed among the registered civil organizations (and among them, our shelter) according to the visitors' votes. The statistics of the site will be publicly available.
