Doglog 06. 03. 2010.
2010.03.10.

This has been a week with stories of tortured, abandoned and abused animals.

The 17th District Police Station sent an appeal to our shelter to seek for accomodation of the 3 war dogs they had confiscated.

The representative of the police station informed us that an illegal dog fight was organized on a rented estate on 28 February 2010. The policemen arriving at the premises enforced the preliminary arrest of a Romanian and a Hungarian citizen.

Both adult dogs that came under our care are in a poor general condition, skinny and weakened. The police provided for their veterinary treatment, their wounds were desinfected and sewn together. Our shelter has undertaken their treatment and rehabilitation from now on.

Tyson, a male dog is 2-3 years old, his owner used to be the Romanian citizen, according to the police.

Another 2-3 year old, male dog's name is unknown, he was registered as Ramses in the shelter

a female dog, her name is unknown, was registered as Cleopatra, her owner is unknown as yet.

The police team arriving at the site interrupted a fight between two adult male dogs that were set to fight until death.

In the future the dogs undergo physical and psychological rehabilitation, at a place only known to the police.
The dogs are evidence until the case is closed. The police will determine their future. The security of the shelter is ensured by reinforced protection of policemen on guard.

On Tuesday our volunteers visited the shelter in Tengelic, where, after quite a struggle (the dogs are, unfortunately, unsocialized and nervous) 3 dogs could be rescued:

Bingo

Banana

and Bia

All the three are in need of a comprehensive physical and psychological rehabilitation. We are asking everyone, if you have the time, to please visit them and sit with them a while as they do not yet understand what it means to receive care from humans or to walk on a leash. As they are so nervous and unsocialized, we are looking for owners who expect no miracles from them but provides them the necessary time to adapt to a new environment again.

Szafi, an approximately 1 year old female Schnauzer mixed breed has come back to our care. She was found in Ócsa in the forest, full of sheep-tick and fleas. She is a nice, cuddly, playful young dog, gets on with other dogs very well. She was adopted from us once but it was claimed she did not get on with the other dogs in the family so they had to get rid of her. Since then Szafi has lived in a kennel together with 2 other dogs. We are looking for an owner who will cause no more disappointment to this dog who has undergone a lot of tough things despite her young age.

Borda came to our care on Friday. He was confiscated in Maglód with the help of the Szomorú Szív (Sad Heart) animal rescue. This old, blind and meager dog was kept on a short chain, without any food or water. He probably spent his entire life on the chain. He does not understand the idea of freedom and having a space to walk around, so he attacks everyone approaching him. Hopefully he will soon calm down in our shelter. The owner has been reported to the Maglód police.

Newton came to our care on Saturday. He is a young, one year old male dog, with an approximately 48-hour old wound. He was collected at the Pécel exit lane of the M0 highway. He is a very cooperative, kind dog, despite his pains he is continuously wagging his tail.

Our volunteer found Piszkos Pulcsi (Dirty Sweater) wounded on Sunday, with a broken leg and pelvis. He is to undergo surgery on Tuesday. His fur is totally neglected, it is bundled together in such large lumps that he might faint just if he shakes himself and one of the bundles hit him in the head. He is, however, a kind kiss-giver, currently under medical care.

Pergamen arrived to us on Monday from Szomorú Szív animal rescue on Monday. He has been wandering around in the area for years, he is wafer thin, his skin is full of bed-sores. He is currently under rehabilitation and medical supervision.

The good news is, two members of the Gödöllő family, Merlin and Tádé have found an owner.
The temporary adopters of Luca decided to kep her for life. Although she is not yet litter-trained, they have grown genuinely fond of her. Gombóc has found an owner, but was brought back on Monday, as the lady who took him realized she will not be a good owner for him. We are sorry she decided hastily and did not follow our advice in adoption. The cats Alma (Apple), Banán (Banana) and Izolda have found an owner. We wish all of them a happy life with their owners!

Csacska Kacska, Grog and Csicsóka were rescued from being put to sleep from the dogcather's yard in Vác.

Sara and Alfi were rescued from being put to sleep from the Illatos Road, they were part of the bequest of a lady, unwanted by the inheritors.

Our Bulldog rescue team has had a week full of action. In February this year a vet from Érd, Dr. Zsargal appealed to the Bulldog rescue in connection with bulldogs in terrible condition. He could rescue three dogs but several were waiting to be rescued still. We organized a rescue mission together with the police and the Házon Kívül (Lost from Home) program of the RTL Klub Channel. We managed to pull the plug on the illegal dog breeding site. There was stink and rubbish everywhere around, even the policemen left the house with disgust, where artificial insemination was made on bulldogs under insufficient circumstances.

In case you missed the program, you can watch it here:

6 dogs have come under our care, 2 male and 4 female bulldogs.
The dogs are currently under rehabilitation, spending their quarantine time, they are not adoptable yet. Until they become suitable for adoption, please send your request for adoption to this email, with an introduction of the future adopter: orokbefogadas@bulldogmentes.hu .
ALL THE DOGS ARE GIVEN FOR ADOPTION NEUTRALIZED, VACCINATED, WITH MICROCHIP. WE DO NOT ACCEPT REQUESTS FROM BACKYARD BREEDERS!

We request all the volunteers and supporters who like boxers to send your support for the boxer rescue - no matter how small an amount - to our OTP account 11710002-20085023. Please write in the notes section "Bulldog rescue project" .
