We went for heart ultrasound!

Today we took 6 of our protegés for heart ultrasound because their heart worm test came back positive. Our specialist Dr Dalma Péterfia did the ultrasound. Today Lizinka, Lorna, Nolan, Aladár mama, Patrik and Habpatron were examined. Some of the news are good and some are bad.

🐾 Lizinka and Lorna testvérek, came to our animal home together because they were given up by their owner. Lizinka's case is worse, Lorna's case is not that bad. They will receive the slow therapy which means they will take medication for a month. On another note we were quite happy with them because when they came to us they took it really hard and they weren't really friendly but today they were friendly, cooperativ and they behaved well.
🐾 Nolan was already examined 4 months ago because his condition was really bad and he had complications. He had a medication therapy and this was his first chekup since then. The good news is that there were less worms around the heart but he needs to take a very expensive heart medication. He is a 40kg sweet teddybear.
🐾Aladár mama who is more then 10 year old jagd terrier female came into our care with her puppies. Her condition is very serious. She has a lot of grown heartworms around her heart. She will start the medication therapy for now but she will have to have surgery. You can see her ultrasound picture with the arrows that show where are the worms.
🐾 Patrik is an english bulldog male dog or what is left of him. When he was found he was very thin, had skin issues and he wasn't able to breath well. The heart ultrasound also revealed that above the heart worms he has cardiological mutation which has to do with him being a bulldog. He has pulmonary hypertension and the right side of his heart is bigger. He will receive medication therapy for the worms and he also has to take medication for his heart. He is a very sweet dog. Everything is good for him. He slept through the whole examination.
🐾 Habpatron our perpetuum mobile boxer girl at first was more interested in getting to know everyone in the room but with time she realized that this is serious matter and then she behaved superb. Thankfully she is in stage 1 which means the worms are not around the heart but in the lung artery. She will receive the medication therapy. She is a wonderfull dog who loves people.

There are 6 more dogs that have to have heart ultrasound in order to determine which therapy they need. More then 30 dogs are having different kind of therapy against heart worms and 4 dogs will have to have surgery in the future.

This is a very serious problem these days and we can't emphasize enough that the only solution is prevention!
Today tests have cost 100.000,-forint (about 300 euros).

Please, support their examination, treatment and recovery!
