Our stork has moved to Hortobágy
2011.09.08.

Our stork arrived with broken wings to the Noé Animal shelter during summer. As the examinations showed it was sure that she should stay with us for the winter. In order for her to recover fast she stayed with a foster family whom nursed her and gave her peace and quiet.

After spending a few months with Főnök (Boss) we were really excited of the arrival of the other stork. Főnök defines our everyday life. She is an integral part of our life here in Noé. She worked with us in the office. She has educated our dogs. We worried about her when she escaped. We had to search for her for hours. It’s a platitude, but she brought sunlight into out our life in winter. She brought us a baby and she caused some troubles as well. For example we took part in a TV show. As to get there she was travelling in my car and she caused a traffic jam. We planned for a long time with her, but as the good weather came she wanted to move. So we let her on her own way with anxiety.

Our stork recovered well by her temporary host. But she was terribly picky. It was really hard to get the best fishes for her. In case we found those fish for her she had a really good apetite. So there were some days when it was a real problem to compile the menu for her.

She recovered well because of love and care. The big bond could be removed. Nevertheless she wouldn’t fly anymore.

Our Stork was happy. She loved to peck in the grass and also loved to take care of the cats. She peremtory demaned her dose of fish. But unfortunately autoum is coming soon. All the other storks are moving to Africa as to replace winter with summer. Unfortunately our stork can’t fly now. We had to decide what is the best for her during winter. I told the others she can stay here int he office. We knew it’s not the best for her. Főnök was a gentle stork. Probably people took care of her earlier. She enjoyed making fuss and training the dogs, but Our Stork is a real wilde stork. We were considering a lot and after we tried to make the best decision. Our stork has traveled to Hortobágy. Her rehabilitation can be continued there. If she has any chance to live on her own, there are the best people to help. If it fails then she can live there during winter and summer as well in the best conditions.
Good bye stork! We hope to hear from you soon!
