We can't take any more dogs in!
2010.12.27.
In the last couple of weeks a lot of unvaccinated dogs and puppies were brought to the shelter; we took in whole litters, sometimes together with the mother. It is always difficult to find a proper place for unvaccinated animals, as they are utterly exposed to infections. For them, the ordinary quarantine is not enough; they need to be separated from the other animals more strictly and for a longer period. This is practically impossible in the animal shelter, so these dogs are always housed at temporary adopters.
In spite of all the precautions, some of the puppies fell ill during the past several weeks, and unfortunately there were some whose lives we couldn't save. At the moment three dogs are in mortal danger, and some others are suspected to be ill. One of the puppies was tested positive for parvo and coronavirus!
As a consequence of the danger of lethal infection that is present in the shelter, it is not possible for us to take any more dogs in at the moment. No matter how hard it is to say no to the dogs in need, we cannot risk any new infections.
