Doglog 07-13.06.2010.
2010.06.14.

This week the rainy days were over and the hot summer arrived, a real challenge both for humans and animals. We were worried especially about our older dogs. All of us tried to survive the hot weather by various means.

Our old dog Csombék got rid of his fur and was given a nice haircut:

Of course, the hard work and fuzz didn't stop – a lot of things happened this week as well.

A group of dogs came under our care; they were christened as „the Isaszeg family”. They are said to have been found in a forest.

Pocak (Tummy) is a 4-year old, neutered Dachshund female, a little bit fat. A very kind, friendly dog, has no conflicts either with humans or other dogs, and she has a special affection for cats, just as for kids. Her original owner died so she was given to us.

Our old raccoon, Szivar (Cigar) has now a new companion: a young male skunk.

We have a new resident who immediately became the most horrifying creature in the animal home: Morgó (Growly) the bunny (who was originally bought as an Easter bunny) is so aggressive that all kinds of contact, including feeding, cleaning and changing the water bottle, requires courage, stamina and a pair of protective gloves: he attacks and it's not a joke! He is looking for a very experienced owner, no way can he be a present for small children!

A lot of kittens arrived this week, and we hope they will find their new homes soon, because the animal home is so crowded that the kittens have to be housed in a bunny cage...

Álom (Dream), Ábránd (Daydream) and Áldás (Blessing) were found in a plastic bag tied to a tree; they are ca. 2 months old.

Janka, Belzi, Berci and Becky suffered from serious FVR (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, an upper respiratory infection) when we took them in; now they are housed by temporary adopters and receive medical treatment.

Our little songbird and a baby crow were housed in our big bird cage.

The police department of the 17th district asked for our help. A local resident is missing but the neighbours didn't dare to cross his yard because of his dogs. We feed the four dogs until the case is settled.

Participants of the VIVA Comet Singers' Competition visited our shelter. Adri, the BNF, the InterYou, the MonCheri and the Stereo 2.0 came for a footage but brought along a lot of animal food for our residents.

A number of children visited us as nice wheather made the shelter an attractive target for an excursion. We hope all of them returned home with good memories and will visit us again soon!

And the great news of the week: 11 of our dogs found a new home!

A black puppy, a male member of the Isaszeg dog family (which was taken under our care at the beginning of the week) was adopted by a family.

Another male puppy of the Huszti dog family found his new home:

Mütyür (Gadget) was also taken home by the new owner, who already had visited him several times:

Römi also goes to sleep in a new home:

Several days later he was brought back for a visit – just to show how beautiful he became after that a little cosmetics was applied. And, moreover, his ex-companion in the kennel, Bubi was also adopted by the same family!

Dundi Krumpli (Fat Potato), the big favourite of all visitors, also has a new owner now:

Bella moved to a new home:

Little Inuit moved to a huge garden – and indeed, he needs space as he will become an immensely huge dog!

It was love at first sight between Káró (Spade) and his new owner:

Rea was one of our old residents, even though she was a very friendly, cooperative dog. At last, she drew someone's attention to herself.

Our dog Nati moved to one of our old adopters. She already adopted a dog from us – older readers certainly will remember the dog Apu (Daddy), who was brought to us in a horrible condition several years ago.

Nati:

Apu the dog and his companion, an ex-stray dog taken in from the street, and their owner:

Apu as he looked like when we took him in:

Áldás (Blessing) the little cat did not spend much time with us:

Many people heard the call for help of the Noah's Ark Society for Life, and lots of donations arrived for those in need in the heavily flooded areas. We send the donations forward continuously. Thank you very much!

We had a huge water problem this week: there was simply no water! We had to have some water brought in order to be able to water the animals. We hope this problem will be solved very soon.

Some news about our ex-resident, Bumi the dog:

„Hi all!
I send some photos of Bumi. He found his place in his new home and gets on well with our other dog. He is very much attached to us, and every time we leave the house he runs along the fence, barking and asking us to stay. He is willing to do anything just to get some caress, and if flattering is not enough, he simply jumps on us. He's a real ball-maniac, who gnawed 4 tennis balls already.
We will write again soon!
All the best,
Judit”

We received some pictures of Oroszka (Little Russian) as well, the old lady had a bath!
