Doglog 27.03.2010
2010.03.31.
A lot of things have happened since the last log entry. Many animals have been taken in and given to adoption in these two weeks.
They have come under our care:
Georgia, a young female labrador mixed breed, found at Péceli Road in the 17th district. She is a friendly, curious dog, a little bit afraid of strangers at first.
Dino, rescued from a dogcatcher in the 19th district where she was doomed to be put to sleep.
Sunny, taken in from the Sad Heart Foundation in Gyömrő. She is a ca. 10 months old, litter trained puppy. She does not chew on things, only the shoes must be hidden from her. She is grateful for all human kindness, a very nice dog. We only give her to adoption to a flat. She can even be adopted as an only dog for the family.
Lea, who was tied to the gate of the animal home with a chain. A very human-oriented, young female – she is not a little bit worse than any other puppy. Most probably she is not yet litter trained, chews everything and loves being naughty, the future owner must know about that. At first sight she is scared of other dogs but calms down quickly and accepts the request to play. She still has to learn how to walk on a leash.
Patrik was picked up by an animal friend on a road with heavy traffic. He is a very friendly, young dog, totally in love with balls. He can easily get along with humans and other dogs. Most probably he is not yet litter trained, chews everything and loves being naughty, the future owner must be aware of that. He still has to learn how to walk on a leash.
Rajna, a 14 year-old German shepherd mixed breed, was taken under our care in a very poor condition. We were informed about her by an animal friend. She has problems with walking, presumably one of her front legs got broken, but was left untreated. She could only lie and cry continuously of pain. The X-ray showed that her leg is indeed broken, but the break is so old and the animal is in such a poor condition that a surgery is out of the question right now. All we can do is reduce her pain – we hope she will still enjoy some calm weeks or months at our animal home.
Suzy was given up by her owner because he was moving to another place. She is friendly with other dogs and people, and trusts humans without a second thought. Until now she has lived in a garden so it is uncertain to what extent she is litter trained but she will certainly learn it quickly. We would like to find her a family where she will be a beloved member until the end of her life.
Teca is a ca. 3 months old, very nice looking German shepherd mixed breed. She has some difficulties with walking on a leash. The future owner has to know that most of her chewing activity is still ahead, so shoes and slippers must be hidden, and the carpet as well as the tapestry will be seen as mortal enemies. She still has to learn the mysteries of litter training.
Bazil is a 1-2 year-old shih-tzu male. He was picked up at Nagykőrösi Road, at the entrance of the M5 highway. His fur is unbeliveably neglected, and he has no microchip. Otherwise he is a human-oriented, friendly little dog.
In addition to them, we took in 35 confiscated dogs from a farm in Dabas.
Balta (Axe), Aszi, the last member of the Auchan family, Adél and Jelly found a new home; Bilog found her original owner.
Spring finally arrived last week! The most lovely evidence of spring coming was found by one of our volunteers: new chicks in the cats' yard!
Our animals enjoy the sun and the nice weather.
As the second quarter of the year approaches, there are again a number of events organized by the shelter. This weekend an Adoption Day will be held at Lurdy House, where all animal friends are most welcome.
18 April the 2nd Noah's Ark Dog Meeting will be held in the shelter.
In connection to this event we asked some volunteers to help us with enveloping the invitations last Saturday. Thank you for all who joined in!
A Donation Concert will also be organized in After Music Club.
15 May the 1st Meeting for Dog Lovers will be held in Rákosmente, with a drawing contest for children. Read the details HERE.
Don't forget that the animal shelter is open also on Sunday, all animal friends are welcome between 10 am and 14 pm. All we ask for is, if you would like to walk one of our dogs, bring a leash with you, as we do not have enough!
5 April (Easter Monday) the animal shelter will be closed. Ther will be, however, an excursion with dogs to Visegrád.
The Noah's Ark Supporters' Club donated 276.400 HUF to the animal shelter in February. This sum was spent on the medical treatment of the cats Csuklyás (Hooded), Paula (leg amputation), Renée (eye treatment, infusion), Boróka (eye treatment, laboratory examinations), Piedone (tail amputation), and the dogs Harang, the Kolompár puppies, Gedeon, Sündi, Tanárnő (steroids), and the neutering of a number of cats and dogs, along with veterinary medicins.
Thank you very much for your kind help and support!
We would like to draw your attention that there is a new way to support us!
You can help by clicking and using a Google-based searching site, as well as by making this site: http://keresve.hu/noeallatotthon your home page. This does not cost a penny, all you have to do is to click!
This is a broadly used and accepted method of support abroad which is, however, new in Hungary. By using this page as your home page, you influence the amount of money the site receives from advertisements, and through this, the amount of money that is given to the shelter. The keresve.hu site gives an opportunity to those who do not have the necessary financial sources, time or energy to support the shelter. Please support us by using this free way of donation!
The money the site's owner (World Development Foundation) receives from advertisements is distributed among the registered civil organizations (and among them, our shelter) according to the visitors' votes. The statistics of the site will be publicly available.
