Doglog 27.02.2010
2010.03.02.

The spring has arrived but unfortunately did not stay long. However, we are looking forward to its coming, many people visited us this week, and school groups contacted us and asked about the possibility of visiting the shelter. The animals are also happy to see the snow and the mud disappear.

Tanárnő (Teacher) came under our care last Sunday. We got a message that a black dog is lying on a small grassy area in the 17th district and is unable to stand up. One of our volunteers rushed there, picked her and took her to the Veterinary Clinic at Rákosliget (the staff was so kind and stayed at the clinic all day long for our sake, for which we are very grateful). It was a long fight until Tanárnő could get on her feet again. She did not react to anything for two days but stood up on the third. She refuses to give up! She needs regular massaging and walking several times a day, which is not easy to manage in the shelter where a large number of animals are living and have to be taken care of. Now we are looking for a TEMPORARY ADOPTER for her. She is a very nice and kind old lady. You can apply by Piroska (36+30 221 1299) or by mail (info@noeallatotthon.hu). Thank you!

Vazul, our new resident was found on Road 31 between Maglód and Mende by our vet. The dog was running back and forth across the road in dangerous zigzags when our vet picked him up and put him into his car so that he does not end up under the tyres of one of the bypassing cars.
Vazul is an elderly dog (approximately 10-12 years old), completely blind, thin as a stick, German shepherd-like mixed breed. He is still stressed so he is baring his teeth at those around him. Hopefully he will calm down soon. We assume he escaped or was thrown out from home a long time ago. Nevertheless, we are looking for the original owner for 14 days! He has no microchip.

A one-year-old couple of the Hungarianvizsla breed, without identification, came to our care, but their owners turned up in the afternoon. Together with the owners we took them to the vet to inplant a microchip in them, as they turned out to be notorious runaways and they get farther from home every time. We gave the owners a few tips which they can hopefully make use of.

There was a lot of traffic in the shelter at the weekend, on Saturday we received:

Macika (Small Bear), a male dog born in 2008, who was once our resident in 2008 as a member of the Teleki family but later found an owner. Unfortunately now, after one and a half years, he came back to us because his owner moved to a rented flat where he was not received with enthusiasm by the other lodgers.

Róza (Rose) is a mixed breed female dog. She was pulled out of the Szilas creek, where she must have spent days. She made vain attempts to climb out but did not succeed without the help of people. Her claws wore off completely and were bloody, they are in a very bad condition. She had a black leather collar with metal buttons. She is waiting to find her original owner for two weeks.

Szila is a German shepherd female who was found hit by a car in Szilasliget. Her left hind leg is injured. We are looking for her original owner for two weeks! She is approximately 6-7 years old, a lovely, very kind dog.

Tóbiás, who will be 15 years old soon has suffered from epilepsy from an early age. His owner died and the inheritors gave him up too easily.
He is very thin and the former owners said he probably has a tumor. His examinations are under way.

Gombóc (Dumpling) arrived at our shelter now but has been on the waiting list. He had been living on a derelict farm for a long time where a kind animal lover fed him along with the other dogs living there.

and Szfinx, who was found injured in the 18th district. His left hind leg is broken. He is looking for his original owner for two weeks. Szfinx is an about 1-year-old, mixed breed male dog. The X-ray showed he has a broken leg and hip. His leg had to be operated. Szfinx is over the surgery, he is released from Primavet today.

Our animal hospital is full at the moment, so we cannot provide an ideal environment for Szfinx.
We are waiting for animal loving volunteers who can provide Szfinx a home for 4-6 weeks, the time of rehabilitation. Please apply at Piroska at 06 30 221-1299 phone number or at the info@noeallatotthon.hu email address.
Thank you very much!

On March 01, 2010 we received a request from the Investigators Office of the 17th District Police Station to take in 3 confiscated war dogs.

The cat section has been busy, as Renée arrived, a female tabby cat born in 2006, who was left behind in a pets clinic. She has mammary tumor and eye fistula, one eye was irreparable, we are still fighting to heal the other one.

Our regular readers probably remember Akác (Wattle), if not...
The good news is Akác found an owner on Saturday. He lives in a flat, he is fully litter-trained and gets on with the family very well. We wish him happiness, he fought for it really hard!

The dogs Deci and Rota found a new owner, just like the cats Paula and Sörét (Lead Shot)! We wish them all a happy new life with their family!

An advertisement of our Animal Shelter was published in the Luxury Magazine, due to Pál Kalós, thank you very much!

Our NoéCaching game has finished!

We were invited guests at the carnival party of the Szitakötők (Dragon Flies) Dance Ensemble, where the entrance fee was a surprise gift for the shelter.
The participants were smaller and bigger children who were very much looking forward to meeting the volunteers of the shelter and gave us the presents they collected for us with a lot of love.

The latest resident of our MiniShelter is Karát (Carat)

The newest members of our Boxer Rescue Team are:
Boci (Moo-Cow), who, although only 4 years old, was taken to the vet to be put to sleep. The vet recommended us to the owners, so the dog arrived to us on Saturday and, after neutralization, he will go to an owner.

Update about Boci:
"Hi Kata,

We are very glad that Boci has arrived to us! He is really lovely! He has been giving us kisses ever since he arrived. To our surprise, he urinates in a squatting position, despite being a boy! :-)
He is carefully exploring the garden and is right now very happy relaxing in the middle of the double bed. :-) In the meantime he is giving kisses to my daddy!
I'll write again and we will keep visiting!

Kisses,
Zita"

and Lisa, whose owners got rid of her at the age of 8. She is a kind, relaxed boxer lady and captivates everyone with her charm in a minute. You can read the pain in her eyes that her owners gave her up because of moving out. She was looking for her owners all the way during the transport to her temporary adopter, but they did not say goodbye just took her collar off and left her with us, filling in the renouncement form. She lived near children and gets on with cats well.
