During the last two weeks a vast number of dogs arrived at our shelter. Almost every day we received a new resident.

Hetti, who came under our care injured.

Tura

The Kolompár family

Hybrid

Nokedli (Dumplings)

Pajtás (Mate), whose original owner was found soon

Many of you might have heard the story of Boldy. Unfortunately we weren’t able to help him in spite of our conscientious medical care. The X-ray examination showed that his tail was torn off during the accident, causing a damage in the neural pathways. His control over urination and defecation became irreversibly disfuntional. This could result in the stagnation of urine and serious renal insufficiency in a short time, since the only urine that left the bladder was the small quantity pressed out by the pressure of the overloaded bladder.

He was X-rayed in anaesthesia, but he was in such a great pain, that even after he stopped showing a pupil reflex and the veterinarian moved his leg to set it to the right position to take the radiograph, he howled with pain.

The veterinarian didn't want to wake him up once more, but we wanted to consult with other medical specialists. We consulted with 3 other veterinarians about the possible surgery and treatment, but their collective opinion was that neither a surgery nor any other kind of theraphy could help Boldy. If we had kept him alive, he could have lived for 2-3 more months, but that would have been a painful period for him, full of suffering. We decided not to expose him to that, since the poor dog had suffered a lot already.

We would like to thank everyone who tried to help Boldy: the ones who found him and took him to the hospital at Christmas; the family from Érd who visited him regularly at the hospital and also at the animal shelter; and everyone else, who supported his surgery and medication, and those, who visited him in the Noah's Ark hospital to comfort and pet him, to move his body and give him strength to heal.

Boldy was a very good dog, always cheerful, kind and friendly with everyone, and endured treatment and suffering without a sound despite the pain.

Rest in peace our Old Friend, now nothing hurts you any more.

Unfortunately we lost - aside from Boldy – Tivadar and aunt Berti, our dogs, and Ánizs (Anice) and Unisex, our cats, too.

We got bad news from the owner of Szotyi (Sunflower Seed), the cat:
“Our cat, Szotyi died after a long period of sickness in the evening, on January 10. Szotyi was a little fighter, he suffered a lot during his short life, he was blind, he had epilepsy and a neural condition. His health deteriorated within six months, but he struggled hard and never gave up, though he got too tired to fight at one point, on January 10.”
We are grateful to his owners who loved and cared for Szotyi, and provided him a warm home.

We received bad news about Pocok (Vole), the cat, too:

“A terrible thing happened yesterday: Pocok died unexpectedly and I am inconsolable.
Yesterday I came home and Pocok miaowed and jumped up and down for joy. Then visitors rang the doorbell, who came to see my flat as I am going to sell it soon. I carried Pocok to the bed, and he cried out in my arms, he was half dead and in a few seconds he was clearly dead. I tried to revive him and give him a heart-massage, but it did not help.
Recently he was coughing, so he got antibiotics, and he looked like he was feeling better. I am not sure if it has to do with the cough or not. Maybe a heart attack killed him, or something similar. My mother asked for a vet's advice and he suggested it could be some kind of an organic disorder.
Pocok had a very happy life with me (apart from the visits to the vet and one panic attack) and I think that I provided him a happy life, but he went away too early and very suddenly. My Little Batka, be happy forever! Anyway I am grateful to you very much for Pocok and the good advice you supported me with.
Regards,
Szilvi”

Our Rodent Rescue Team needs help!

Two volunteers of our Rodent Rescue Team headed off to Szombathely on Sunday morning to rescue four animals doomed to a death by narcosis by their owner.
Unfortunately, not too far from the destination they had a car accident. There were no injuries, but the car suffered serious damages. Towing the car back to Budapest and the repairs will cost 150 000 HUF. Our Rodent Rodent Rescue Team welcomes any help because this was the only functioning car at the group's disposal!

We would like to ask every animal friend to support the Rodent Rescue Team, by any amount, however small, if they can.

The Team hasn’t got a separate bank account, so please transfer your donation to the bank account of Noah's Ark Animal Shelter Foundation ( account number : 11710002-20083777).
On our homepage you can find a link to donate to the Rodent Rescue Team via online credit card transactions.
In the notes field please indicate: Rágcsálómentés (Rodent Rescue).

Thank you!
