Our little old dog Martini, who was returned to the Noah Animal Shelter Foundation after 13 years due to the loss of his owners, had an ophthalmological examination with Dr. Gabriella Rózsa at LotusVet Veterinary Clinic. The doctor confirmed what we suspected, Little Martini's left eye is unsalvageable and because of the enormous pressure in it, which causes pain, it must be removed as soon as possible. His right eye is intact, but his cataract is so severe that he can hardly see at all. A pea-sized tumour on the eyelid on this side needs to be surgically removed. 😢
Unfortunately, complications arose as the pre-operative lab unfortunately confirmed the suspicion of Cushing's disease. It is imperative to get to the bottom of this before surgery, because with untreated cushing's disease, your wounds will not be able to heal. So today he moved to the Csipet-Csapat Veterinary Centre where they have started a special stimulation blood test to diagnose and, if confirmed, treat him. And once we have a definite result and he starts receiving medication for it, he will go to the operating table as soon as possible to stop the pain in his eyes. 💔
We'll know more tomorrow, but one thing is for sure, we really need to keep our fingers crossed for the little guy. 🙏 I can't tell you how sweet this little dog is. Despite the pain and the great loss he has suffered, he is full of life, love and affection. He cuddles, almost purrs in your lap 🥰 We need him to be all right and not end up in the shelter, as much as we love him. 😍
