This week has been heartbreaking. At the beginning of the week, the Meda for Animals Association, who care for the dogs at the Kunhegyes city pound, asked the Noah's Animal Shelter Foundation to help a dog in a terrible condition.
They arrived at a house which looked well cared for from the front. A nice house in the front... and worms eating the dogs alive in the back.
The dog in the worst condition, in danger of losing its life, was taken into the care of NOÉ, her name is Visszarionova, working name Nova.
She has a huge wound on her neck from the chain she was kept on, and a pus-filled, stinking tumour the size of a baby's head is sticking out of her fur. She's thin, can barely walk, and her heartworm test came back positive.
She was literally received help at the last minute and her condition is life-threatening (or rather, we hope not at the last minute!)
She was immediately rushed to the Csipet Csapat Veterinary Centre where she has been receiving intensive care ever since. She has undergone lab tests, ultrasound, x-rays. She is strengthened, treated, loved...
Her only chance is surgery, although it is a high risk, but we will try in consultation with our doctors. A few more days of strengthening and either this weekend or early next week she will undergo her first, very big operation.
We are incredibly grateful to the official veterinarian of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County Government Office who took immediate action. We know him well, as we have worked together on many animal protection cases and it is no coincidence that he was recently awarded the Veterinarian of the Year Award. The dogs were confiscated and administrative proceedings were started.
In parallel, the owner was taken in by the police for questioning.
Nova is now safe, but our doctors are still fighting for her life and survival. Thank you so much if you can contribute with your support to her chance for the beautiful LIFE she deserved from the start. 💔😭
