It was our heartworm day again‼️ So we went with 5 dogs who have tested positive for heartworms to Dr. Dalma Péterfia specialist for an examination, heart ultrasound and treatment protocol.
Unfortunately we came home today with more bad news than good.
We had 3 timely check-ups:
Our bulldog Obelix came into our care 3 months ago in a life threatening condition. He was so severely infected that he had a abdominal fluid. He has to take several heart medications and we have started him on alternative drug therapy. He got high praise because all his values have improved a lot, of course the worms are still there but they have moved a lot away from his heart and there is no more fluid in his abdomen 🙏
Ingrid and Lencse our two extra cute little ones had their 4 month check up today. Both of them had such severe infestations that they actually needed heartworm removal surgery. We have started their medication and are now anxiously awaiting the results of the check-up. Lencse has improved a little, but unfortunately the worms are still present in very large numbers, there are moments when they almost block the pulmonary artery. Ingrid's condition hasn't improved 💔😢 huge amount of worms, very close to the heart valves... Both of them need heart support and another round of heartworm treatment. We are absolutely devastated for them 😢
Our boxer girl Corall - a real treat - thankfully not in extra bad shape, but already stage 2, with a large number of larvae (microfilariae) in her blood. Terra ❤️ is also already stage 2, with several adult heartworms showing up on ultrasound. 😡 Both of them are starting alternative, doxy-moxy drug therapy.
Today's 5 puppy's examinations, heart ultrasounds, microscopic examinations cost nearly 130.000Ft and this is "only" the diagnosis of the problem. The necessary drugs, further tests, labs will cost a lot more. Thank you very much if you can contribute to their treatment with your support. 🙏❤️
