Laguna's first very dangerous Immiticide treatment!

Keep your fingers crossed for our beautiful Malamut Laguna. As you know she has dirofilaria immitis. She in the early stages of the desease that means that the worms are in her lung veins and can’t be seen in the lung artery.
She has been receiving treatment for months now, she was taking Doxycycling antibiotics and now we came to the critical stage where she will get her first Immiticide arsenic injection. This product kills the grown heart worms and it is very dangerous and painful. Laguna is in the operating room and will receive the injection in narcosis. She will need to get this injection 2 more times in 30 and then 31 days. After the injection she will need to stay in kennel and she will not be allowed to move a lot so the dead worms in her veins will not cause trouble in her heart. We are hoping that her body will be able to dissolve the worms.

We have never ever done something like this before and it is scary. It looks like that we have to get use to this procedure because our dog White started the same treatment and yesterday two of our other protegés Prima and Franny bulldogs test came back positive.

Laguna’s treatment is will cost in total 200.000,- huf (ca. 670 euros). The 2 bulldogs girls will have a heart ultrasound to determine which treatment they will need to have but which ever it will be the total costs are a lot of hundreds of thousand of forints (between 1000-2000 euros).
The comlete medical test that determine in which stage of the desease they are in cost around 55.000,- huf (ca. 180 euros).
