Meggyecske squirrel in our care

Meggyecske was found animal lovers near Salgótarján. He/she may have fallen out
of the nest and he(she) was so tiny that he couldn't have had a chance without
human help, thus they asked for NOÉ Shelter's help to assist in placing him.

At the time of his had severe diarrhea so we placed him
under immediate veterinary supervision.

Thanks to our special feeding, he's slowly staring to get better and better.

Meggy is going to be breastfed for a long time. During this period out vets will take care
of him. After the breastfeeding period he will move to one of our temporary recipient's garden in Budakeszi, where, after continuous familiarization, he will we be set free.

Of course we will provide constant updates on his fate. We hope that his repatriation
will also turn out well and we can successfully reinstate him in the nature.
Last year we also had a baby squirrel fallen out of his nest, though we couldn't let Misi
go back to the nature due to the damage of his nervous system. He appeared alongside our colleague Kata Almási in TV2's morning show, Mokka.

Important note for animal lovers!

If somebody finds a squirrel fallen out of it's nest and takes him into care, immediately contact a professional: take him to a wild animal park, zoo or the NOÉ Shelter, because poor feeding or inadequate care can easily take his life or cause permanent damage. The red squirrel is an endangered species, keeping them in captivity is strictly forbidden! The formerly gentle and hand-reared specimens also run wild and bite after the attainment of sexual maturity.
