Dog Log 18.02-10.03.2013
2013.03.14.
Thank God Spring is cooooooooooooming! Or, at least it shoed some hints of coming. For some days .
Luckily, even our freeziest animals enjoy the first beams of sunlight, the fresh breeze of spring, so everyone could stretch their feet, paws and other limbs in the nice weather.
Linda, the baboon did exactly the same, after hiding basically all winter (except for lunchtime).
But the lamas got inspired by the warm weather and their friendship transformed from the spitting- kicking one to a long lasting and inseparable relationship.
Our beloved wry nosed Makkos Marton, the boar also had a refreshing sand bat under the pampering spring sunshine.
Our office administrator, Connie and a key member of the reception committee of the shelter, Fifi were also having a deserved sunbath.
And last but not least, the spring inspired the would-be-owners as well.
Bellis had been living with a foster family for a long time, but her status has become permanent – the family finally adopted Bellis.
Iron was adopted on a rainy February day – his owners had visited him for several consecutive occasions to get to know him better.
Parittya, found earlier near the Halásztelek ALDI with wounded leg is now breaking rule with his new owner. He got fully recovered and has immense amount of energy and vitality – as you see, he did not even stop for a photo shoot.
Lavina, one of our New Year’s Eve squib victims has moved to a new family as well: he was immediately taken to a pet hair saloon, which he did not like, but stood without a word.
Pelü, who was returned as a puppy, is now moving to a new family as a young and very powerful adult dog – this time, we hope, for good.
Dabas Dobos is one of the last one saved from Dabas. He was living with a foster family that finally adopted him.
Maci Tacsi from the Teleki Family is a returned dog, who was brought back after 1.5 years because of moving to a new rent. Now he also got a new chance and moved to a new foster owner. We hope that he gets on well with the indigenous cat and can stay there for good.
Nimfa also got adopted.
but her sister, Inka is still waiting for the One. The would-be-owners are plenty
Nyájas, who was found running around hysterically at one of the exits of M0 is too moving to a new family – they will make sure not lose the dog again .
Our adopted puppies:
Boyd
Kiskukac
and Boróka
Unfortunately we lost some of our protégés in this period:
We had to say goodbye to Vihar…
Vihar was a real Noah icon living with us, or rather just among us for 4 years. The snow-white, silent, tiny-footed dog living in the courtyard was a dog loved by many of us, even though Vihar was afraid of almost everything and was full of bad and painful experiences and avoided human contact. Sometimes he welcomed petting and kind words but only when he wanted it, and as opposed to other animals in the courtyard, he was never asking for acts of kindness – he was a solitary dog. Here, in our huge barn he found the happiness of his own solitary world and we all accepted his need for distance and some sort of detachment both from humans and other animals. In spite of all these he was a real icon of Noah laying in the entrance al the time, the sunbeams playing on his white fur and a sad smile sitting on his face. He was not young, his front paws – probably due to some kind of an early degeneration – became ball-shaped and bony, so moving was difficult for him. He had been thrown out in this state 4 years ago near Üllő, at railway 4. He suffered from various injuries lately: he got injured in a fight and his feet and spine hurt badly, but the worst were the incurable panic seizures. Though he was examined, no medical reason was revealed – his body seems to have given up the fight and he passed away Saturday night. Our beloved Vihar, be happy over the Rainbow Bridge where you must have healthy feet to run on the green lawn, just like real kuvasz-type dogs like. We will never forget you, we already miss you.
Bátor Artúr also left us. He was adopted as a puppy but he was brought back spending months with us without any potential owner. We found his lifeless body in his kennel, the cause of his death was twisted stomach. Rest in peace Belle Ami.
Our old granny, Babette, the Rottweiler also passed the Rainbow Bridge. She was taken to hospital due to a neck wound and she responded to treatment quite well. But medical treatment weathered her body and she could hardly recover from the cancer any more. Rest in peace dear Babette, we will miss you very much.
We have new arrivals lately:
Hugo is approximately 1 year old, mid-size black and brown mix boy found at the railway station of Szőlősnyaraló in 13 February 2013. No chip, no collar, nothing that would identify the dog, so now Hugo is waiting for a new owner at a foster family.
Kusza and his friend Weimo, arrived on a nice and splendid afternoon, more precisely they walked in the doors of the shelter, probably they were thrown out in front of the shelter.
Kusza is a roughly one year old mudi-type bitch who was pregnant when got in, luckily we had her fixed before too late.
Weimo is also roughly one year old with beautiful blue eyes – and exact tiny copy of a Weimar Pointer.
We could grab the last member of the Grafit Family: Grafit Grafi is a beautiful terrier-like bitch, probably will be mid-sized.
Body – submitted by his owner – is a March 2010 born pincher mix boy. Walks nice on leash and is compatible with other dogs and kids. BUT he is climbing! He needs a house with super safe fence or a secure flat.
Pali Puli got to Noah in January 2011, most probably as a victim of the New Year’s Eve fireworks. We already had given him away to a family, but after two years of living with a family he was brought back and the reason was that Pali Puli was not barking. It was strange, because as it turned out, Pali Puli was never barking, so we never knew why this became a problem now. We do not have words for this.
We also have a hedgehog baby arriving to Noah, who woke up earlier than expected from the winter slumber. Luckily this cute little animal was found by animal lovers and brought to us and we took the hedgehog to a foster hedgehog parent to get around till spring.
Some of our earlier injured puppies have recovered and are waiting for their new families: they are Professzor, Közért and Trikó.
We met Professor early last December. The fluffy and soft 4 months old boy was found in Budapest, but we do not know exactly where, because the people who found him just wanted to leave him at the Veterinary University, where they originally took the puppy. So we decided to save the young dog ran over by a car. As a result of the accident, the puppy did need immediate surgery because his tight bone and hip bone were injured and the head of the tight bone needed to be removed. Fortunately Professzor is over the operation and the rehabilitation period. He is fully recovered and is waiting for his new owner.
Közért is a tiny black unknown mix dog. He was born in June 2012 but he has seen a lot and experienced the worst that could happen to a dog: his owner hurt him so seriously that two of his bones were broken in his little legs. We received a desperate call saying that someone threw his dog and the little puppy was crying ever since: the tiny dog ran after his owner to a store in Kobanya and this upset the owner so much that he literally threw the dog out of the store. The little dog hit heavily against the concrete after flying several meters and the heartbreaking crying made it obvious that there was serious trouble. The guards of the store called the police and the disappointed customers and pedestrians kept the abuser in the store till the police came, who resigned ownership so the little puppy could immediately b transferred to the vet.
Közért, after 3 months of rehabilitation is now fully recovered and is waiting eagerly for a new family who only wants him and only him and who make him forget the miseries he had to experience in this young life. He is a lovely and a bit noisy buddy who is interested in everything and who radars everything with his huge ears.
Trikó is a September 2012 born tiger striped mix puppy who got to the Noah Tiny Shelter from the Vac dog pound.
One of Trikó’s legs was broken in spite of his young age. The vet revealed that the injury is not a fresh one but is not re-fractured or moved away so it does not require any recovery surgery, just some rest. So Trikó was expelled to solitary confinement for a longer time and could not move as much as he wanted to to ensure proper rehabilitation. We are over the rehabilitation period and Trikó is also absolutely healthy and waiting for a new and loving family. He will be a small or medium size dog. A very friendly and soft little puppy who is really attracted o humans.
All three of these lovely puppies the new owners should be aware of the fact that casualties will surely come: chewed shoes, books, etc.
The Carnival Photo contest received a lot of nominations – thanks for all enthusiastic applicants for participation.

We have Easter coming and this means that we are organizing our regular Easter Fun at the Noah’s Shelter on 31 March 2013, Sunday, between 11 AM and 2 PM. Join us for pet caressing, handcrafts show, face painting and horse riding for kids.
But Easter is not happy at all for everyone. Noah’s Shelter this year announces bunny-stop again to demonstrate how unacceptable pet negligence is for us. In the previous years we took redundant or unwanted Easter bunnies, chicks and ducklings but throughout these years a shocking conclusion became obvious: 85-90% of these people bought these pets because they knew that after the holidays they could bring them to us or to other organizations.
So we declared Bunny- STOP or Do Not Give Living Animals to Your Kids!
And finally some winter pics, probably winter farewell happy pictures about the favourite of many, Rasztafani, who enjoyed winter with his huge fur
