I was just a week ago complaining if any new dogs arrive we will literally not be able to put them anywhere ... and now we reached this exact point. Dogs flooded us, though at least some were bitches, and they are easier to find a place.
We got notice that a dog appeared slightly a week ago among the shrubs of Strázsahegy bulk. She seemed to be hungry and thirsty but showed no injuries or signs of sickness, still, after some days with us lost appetite. In spite of her robust and majestic look for, which only few dared to approach, the dog facilitated interaction with wagging tail. Luckily an angel understood the signs and trusted the her enough to examine: the whole body was infected with ticks which raised the possibility of tick-fever, so we needed to act immediately.
Our shelter took Vencelina to the vet where her treatment began immediately. Fortunately she is getting better and she got over her illness.
We had Gyáli Panka from waiting list: she was living in the realms of Gyál’s industrial area, till an animal lover took her and gave shelter till we could accept her. Panka is a Hungarian shepherd bitch born probably in 2010.
Apra, as you can see is a 2007 born beagle found on 25 September 2012 in Baross Street, XVII. District. The dog has id chip and was purchased from breeder, whom we contacted (as this was the only info we could find out) to get information on the owner. The breeder promised to contact us when more is known, still, if this beautiful dog is missed and recognized, the owner can claim the dog at Noe. Unfortunately the owner has not contacted us so far.
Dumbo is a well-built mix dog born in 2008. He was left in front of the shelter’s gate during the night or early morning. He was observing us cautiously and hid in the bush for every unknown sign, but by sacrificing the lunch of our colleague we could get him closer and befriend him. Dumbo is a slightly timid but friendly dog for the first time, he gets on well with other dogs. He is in good health but his ears are bruised and need treatment.
Ménkű is a 1 year old mix (poodle-puli-Bichon) found in Péteri. He has been run over by a car and as his leg stuck to the tires the road planed the soft tissue and the majority of the front leg bone. The injury is not fresh, the wound is festering and stinky. Medical treatment has begun but Ménkü needs surgery, which is not without any risk, so keep fingers crossed for this dog that suffered so much. Also, if you can support Ménkü’s surgery, please consider making a donation to by transferring your gift to 11710002-20083777 bank account with OTP. Thank you for your support. We are also looking for a foster owner for the time of the recovery, ideally in Budapest where medical checkup is less painful and where there is an elevator or a ground floor flat available because he can hardly take the stairs for obvious reasons. If you can take good care of Ménkü please contact us at info@noeallatotthon.hu.
Bricostore (DYI store) in Fót called us recently to ask for help in a serious case: one of the leaving customers ran over a stray dog in the parking lot. The dog’s left hinter leg was injured and we immediately took him to the shelter to be able to take him to the vet. This young boy is no more than 1 or 2 years old and we named him Chimney. One may wonder how it is possible not to see that one is running something over by a car, more precisely a dog? Well, of course, the dog is black but not at all a tiny one. It is more likely that the driver did not even care…. Shocking, isn’t it? Luckily the store promised to provide us with the records of the security cameras so we hope that on the basis of what we find we can reconstruct the events. We have reported the case to the police and we are waiting for the next step.
We are solely looking for the original owners of these 6 dogs at the moment, but the list of dogs who just got in to Noe is far from complete with them unfortunately….
Jimbo was taken to Noe by his owner, but not out of his will. After a long legal procedure the owner had to face the fact that he is going to lose his home, hope and finally his beloved friends. The owner walked an exemplary road: he did not postpone everything till the last moment, he tried to find a good home for his dogs before his own dislodgement, he could find anyone for Jimbo. Jimbo is currently with Noe and looking for a loving owner. Jimbo is a young, probably 2011 born sand coloured dachshund type dog. He is to be adopted in flat or in a house with garden where he can also live in the house.
Sony is a more than 15 years old dachshund mix dog, who lost his owner and without any relative he was taken to the shelter. He is a bit confused at the moment because his beloved owner suddenly disappeared near him. He can be adopted in flat or in a house with garden where he can also live in the house.
We also had a visitor this week, a frightened turtle found near a crowded road. The medical checkup revealed nothing and we released it in an appropriate place.
And we have a surprise returner, Anasztázia, who could not equal the expectations bí committing the crime of not barking….. so she was brought back to Noe. Either way, this is already 9 new dogs we have had to find place for, we even have dogs at places that were not originally dedicated to be kennels. So we are in desperate need of foster parents, particularly for dogs under rehabilitation. For more info please contact info@noeallatotthon.hu.
The motto of Noe is the following: we believe in miracles. We already have had a few unbelievable recoveries in the past few years, months and weeks. One of the best examples for this is Babett. Babett was found in Pécs in an abandoned patch, put on chains without food or water in the summer heat. Moreover, she had huge swellings on her udders. She was full of ticks and lice, had fever and was close to dehydration. Help came in the last minute and Babette, through the course of devoted care and medical support, began to recover. Many followed her story, supported and took and interest in her, so we hoped that the dream owner would come soon as well. Unfortunately the dream owner has not come, but Babette is living happy in the shelter.
We also need to mention Ring’s story: he was found in a drive-in movie near Mogyoród with serious wounds. He was probably run over by a car, which fragmented the tight bone and also had some minor injuries besides dehydration and malnutrition. But nowadays Ring is also a happy and healthy dog who is eager to have his dream owner.
But some of our beloved dogs would need further miracles, Babusz, Verne and Szeles.
They arrived without vaccination and their immune system was very weak, due to the serious injuries they had. Though the original illnesses were cured in their orderly manner, other infections attacked them. They need further medical checkup and require intense medical treatment, so the are in quarantine for further treatment.
The summer is over for our horses as well, the horse sanatorium temporarily closed its doors and our dummy herd is reunited. This also means that the regular horse cleaning Saturday sessions will be launched again, where we welcome all volunteers again.
Now let’s see the good news, that is the adoptions for this week:
Print, the naughty doggy and the sand coloured member of the Kereső family, Heureka.
The last chocolate, Smarties (from Kiscsoki, that is Tiny Choko, Choco Family and Chokito) had finally found an owner. Their mum, the three times mother Cherry Queen is still waiting for a rightful owner.
Swing had visitors for long, consecutive weeks, who got familiar with the dog, eased him, trained him on leash and the timid dog left Noe happily and full of trust.
This week also bought its sad news: we lost a gentleman: Samu, the old Methuselah left us. The lovely dog spent one and a half years with us but we would never forget him. He was originally found in 2010 on the street, being already aged. Though his foster family tried to make his last days nicer, they could not cope with the dog’s incontinence, so the old gentleman made it to the shelter. At that time Samu was extremely popular, still the already doddering, soft and caressing dog, it seems, only deserved 5 minutes of fame. Those who were interested in him and those who supported him gradually vanished with our hope to provide this lovely dog a caring and loving home for the rest of his life. Most surprisingly, Samu did not take this bady: he lived a cozy life with us at Noe, he enjoyed the favoured attention and care he received from us. He had his own soft bed in our emergency section and he always got the most delicious bites in his plate. And he always enjoyed whatever he got with the natural air of a lord. The last few weeks gradually revealed that he is getting worse and today we had to leave him. We will never forget Samu, today it is so impossible to think him not to be there sleeping when we enter the emergency section or not to see him wondering in the court. We wish we could have given him a lot more in these months. We want to give our special thanks to Vera and Aniko, who were with Samu every minute. Samu, be happy and healthy over the Rainbow Bridge, we will love you always.
And now here is a letter from our protégé adopted last week, Nárcisz: “Dear Noe! It’s Nárcisz, the tiny shi-tzu from the new owner. Oh, by the way, thanks for saving me and finding me new owners. I am fine and I eat a lot, I get a lot of tasty bites. I really like my new place, as the flat is a safe place for me from the first time with my basket and a white carpet that I declare to be mine. And of course whatever falls on my domain, any blankets or pillows is by default mine as well, because I need a lot of cozy stuff to create my own comfortable home.
Now, the garden is another story: I explore it day after day. I have discovered that sleeping under the thuyas is very splendid so I created a place of my own there as well. I even had visitors on Sunday who brought breaded chicken legs and liver to welcome me. I think I can accept them as well, I assume they are a king of grandparents. And I also received honey, which tasted very good and now my throat is not aching any more. My owners pet me so much that I end up sleeping into it, so I decided to be a good girl and relieve myself in the garden. I am such a good girl, they do not even know that I wet the carpet earlier….
Yesterday was the first walk with the owners. It is a real adventure: a lot of new smells and a lot of things to sniff and see! Gabor, the owner praised me a lot for walking nicely. The owners ar at work now, but when they come I greet them with wagging tail. We already began to learn orders – I always here “Come. Come. Come”. Of course I can show that this is is tiring and boring so I often end up doing something totally different, but a treat can always make me perform the task. So this is how my life goes, but the weekend has something interesting: something called bath is going to happen. Well, it does not sound too convincing, does it…? I send by hugs and kisses as the owners have arrived. Nárcisz, the tiny shi-tzu.”
And finally a real cute one: Wasa, the boxer mom and her mix babies are growing
