Dog Log 02.07-08.07.2012
2012.07.12.
It’s summertime and nothing matters! I’m melting like butter…
We told you on several forums that weather conditions are changing extremely. Stifling heat is dangerous for both pets and people. Pets can also get a heat stroke or they are dehydrated so they can die if we don’t care of them.
A week before, in the middle of the heat alert we got a desperate call. Two dogs are living on an abandoned homestead here in our district, around Merzse-swamp without water and food in this heat. Nobody was seen around the homestead at least for two days. As we and our pets were suffering from the tropical heat for two weeks we knew we have to do something as soon as possible because these dogs were threat to life.
You can read more here on our action with the animal control authority and the police!
Monday was a black day for us because many protégées arrived back. Indian Apacs was living by new hosts from 2010. He was puppy that time. In March 2012 there were some purulent, bloody wounds between his toes. He was taken to the vet and cured but the doctor hasn’t found its cause. But this disease gnawed the family both in money and emotionally. The family had Apacs’s interests in mind and they had him given back. Our vets examine him continuously but we have to wait for the results.
Stoppos Index also came back. There was a change in his family and they couldn’t decide who should own him. He doesn’t really understand this situation.
Hétfő was found on Monday in the 17th district. She is a young friendly dog but she doesn’t get on well with other dogs. Recently we are searching for her original hosts!
Borcsa was also found in the 17th district. Recently we are searching for her original hosts!
She is trembling when it is a storm. When it was rumbling and thundering she has moved over several fences in 5 minutes. It was hard to catch her again so maybe that’s why she left from home.
Puncs, the horse was found in Hévizgyörök and it took several days to find her original hosts. You can read her story here.
And in the end we got a strange phone call on our central number: a Hermann’s tortoise was found in Halásztelek. He was just walking on the streets. There are enough places in our run for a fifth Hermann’s tortoise. But we hope he is searched by his original hosts.
Every day we found some squeakers who needed help. Can you imagine that one day we found 8 of them?
I’d like to mention here our temporary hosts, Marietta and Attila. They don’t care of their time and try to help the squeakers and other hurtled pets any time. They are taking care for the squeakers all day. Food is given to the pets and their cages are cleaned, not to mention their own pets as well. Now they have 5 new-fledged, 8 very small, 7 younger, 2 youngster (who can set free soon) and 5 adult but hurted birds. They have also 3 hedgehogs, 3 bunnies; 3 roosters (one is half-blind, one has only 1 leg and the third is totally blind), Zizi the deer, more than 30 cats and 10 dogs. All of them is hurted or have no chance to live on their own. As you can see our helpers are real animal lovers. Without them we would be in a real trouble! Thank you Marietta and Attila!
Fortunately several dogs were adopted this week:
The hosts of Zalán Zalka were subscribing the final adoption contract after Zalán got spayed.
Kapor was moving to a place where two children are living and they were waiting for her:
Gyurma (Plasticine):
Unfortunately there is some sad news as well.
Pallos, the cacasian sheapeard has died. She arrived to our place at the beginning of 2011. That time she had a big open wound on her head. Maybe it was caused by an axe or a shovel. One day she has turned up in front of our gate. It didn’t turn out that she was left there or it was her luck to come here. Our doctors have operated her immediately. She was recovered soon but on one side her eyelid was paralyzed. It wasn’t a problem for her. She was charming and calm. Many of us loved her and took her for long walks or brushed her hair for hours. But no new hosts were appeared. She was happy and loved the pampering. Everything was good until the beginning of this year when her health conditions became worth. Abusing her caused not only a blemish but her brain was also damaged. Despite all efforts she started to break down so fast. From day to day we could do nothing. The only happy thing was the long walk for her. But after a while it was really hard for her to move. After her body broke down came her soul. Unfortunately we could do nothing but let her over the Rainbow to walk there every day.
„Oh my darling, oh my darling,
My darling Clementine,
You are lost for me forever,
Dear sweet darling, Clementine.”
Maybe this song is not best for here but I can’t forget it since Clementine is the name of our ostrich. As I looked at her I started to sing this song and now I know where you are: over the rainbow…
Clementine was ill recently. She was operated and treated. When she needed we gave her food and water artificially and we also gave her medicines. Compared to her size she wasn’t the smartest animal on Earth but she understood when we wanted to help her. Unfortunately we lost, she has died. We really miss her; miss those eyelashes, her fluffy neck, and the cumbersome legs. We won’t forget you!
Gyékény was not the luckiest dog on Earth. She arrived to the Pethome in spring. That time the Public space Management asked us to help for a dog who has jerky spasms and laying somewhere in the groove. This beautiful young, black dog stole our heart immediately. She was kind, got on well with everybody and had no problems. Later it turned out that those jerky spasms were caused by epilepsy. Gyékény had these attacks regularly; sometimes she had more than one. Despite of this she was still a vivacious and kind dog. As another illness she had distemper as well but she could recover as soon as it was possible. There was also someone who wanted to adopt this black beauty but she had an attack again and we had to take her to the hospital. Unfortunately she is over the rainbow now…I’m sorry, I hope you are happy, healthy and have hosts over there. We won’t forget you!
We need a temporary host for Mia as soon as possible! Since she is living with us she is sad and eats just a little portion. She really needs the touch of people and the everyday contact. We need someone who let her in the house and be with her a lot. Mia is 4-year old spayed German shepared girl. She gets on well with other dogs.
Our puppies are also seeking for a family. From 5 breeds 16 puppies are searching for a new host. Their mother, sitter and foster parents did a great job. The puppies get on well with people now.
Just a little help:
Csoki family-they are going to be big
Horgász family- they are going to be a middle breed so we give them just to a flat
Chokito puppy- She is going to be a middle breed so we give her just to a flat
Raszta family-they are going to be small or middle breed
Kiscsoki family-they are going to be small so we give them just to a flat.
We are waiting just for those host who know everything about puppies. However it is joyful to see how a puppy grows up it also can cause some problems or loss in the flat and in your things. You have to educate them and teach them to keep the house clean.
We started to vaccinate them but it is your task to finish it. You can adopt them with chip and spaying is obligated for an exact time.
Regarding to the possibility of an infection, the puppies are staying with temporary hosts. You can get more information on the following number: 06 30 221 1299 from Monday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Puppies eat a lot so we are waiting for your food donations! Thank you in advance!
Our cane corso rescue group wasn’t lazy this week. Fiona Medvetalp Princess moved to us after a few weeks preparing.
We got some shocking photos and videos from the shelter in Karcag. They were asking for help for this 1 year-old cane corso girl. We have seen and experienced many things in our lives but there are some things that are trembling for us (fortunately). When this dog a puppy was she lost one of her front legs because of a topper.
It is a big problem for a dog, but it could live happily with 3 legs as well. But Unfortunately Fiona was so young and in her age she was still grown. This is how her legs were deformated and she is walking like a bear now.
Let’s talk about this later. I’d like to say a few words now about the rescuing. We had to do this. Not only she had a problem with her legs but she was kept on a chain and nobody took care of her legs. When it rained she was soaking and she was cold during winter. Neighbors gave her food and worried about her. We don’t know how long she would live like this but fortunately some girls from Karcag found her. Their first thought was to call our Cane corso Rescue Group. And it’s not a secret that we didn’t hesitate!
Most of our animals doesn’t like this heat. Some tries to find some way to thaw this or that. The most popular is to calm down in water.
Rambó the destroyer:
Nani:
Tricikli alias Luca, who is melting down in the water :
We need some sandboxes that you usually can find in DIY shops. We use them as a swimingpool in the run of the dogs. Unfortunately it is consumable equipment so we need some soon. Naturally we can use other things for paddling as well.
