After a long hiatus, we are back with our weblogs. Maybe a little different from the ones you have been used to but I hope you will still like them. I don’t try to summarize the events of the months skipped because so much has happened. Therefore, let us see last week!
In spite of our continuous struggle with our full house, we have welcomed several new dogs. Manó arrived from a waiting list. His owner died and the family was looking for a solution. They gave him his shots and so he could come to us. He is a 7 years old male, behaves very well and is well socialized. He is kind to people and dogs alike, and his only problem is that he jumps the fence – which he demonstrated very nicely as soon as we put him in his kennel.
Babett is a 5-6 years old purebred female Rottweiler. She was found in Pécs, on a deserted lot, chained, in the heat without any food and shadow. She had huge tumors on her teats. She was full of fleas and ticks, had a fever and was dehydrated. Nobody helped her in the neighborhood therefore she ended up here. She was rushed to the hospital immediately. The tumors had to be removed and the examination of possible metastasis is under way. At the moment she is healing at the hospital.
Jamaica and Jaffa was found in Rákoskeresztúr. Fortunately, they only spent a short time at our shelter, their owner was found quickly and both of them went home chipped.
Pikó was brought to the shelter with severe injuries. We rushed him to the hospital but the moment we arrived, he walked over the Rainbow Bridge. Help came too late for him unfortunately.
The Horgász family babies who were living with a foster mum returned. They were found buried under the ground, a few days old. We were desperately seeking a wet-nurse for them who could raise them. The parents of Mazsi called us that they could take care of the 3 babies since Mazsi had only 2 pups. As the puppies grew by the time they were 4 weeks old they grew as big as their foster mum who could not deal with them anymore and they had to leave. We are grateful for Mazsi and her owners that they provided an opportunity for these 3 little ones to live!
The puppies moved to the “Noah nursery” where mum Cherry Queen will watch over her together with other Noah’s puppies. Cherry raises 11 pups altogether from 3 litters but she seems to really like it. We are very grateful to her because she needs a whole lot of patience to do that. The greatest thanks would go to a dream owner to take her home…
We have received a short video on our pup Chokito, who is also raised by a foster mum:
Thankfully not just one of our dogs found a loving owner: Sphira
Giovanni
Zanza
Petrezselyem was a failure of his foster parent who has just signed the permanent contract. We have also received photos of the recently adopted Íjász Popo, who seems to had fit in quite well. He escorts his owner to work every day, take long walks in the green and he has also found new friends.
We have also received photos of our recently adopted one-eared protégée, vanGogh. The new owner must have had enough of all the passers-by asking him about poor dog’s ear:
We wish them a happy new life!
Food donations to Cat Rescue have arrived from a German friend that we would like to thank very much with these photos:
We have also received donations from the faraway London from our fellow Hungarians. We are grateful to Krisztián Kaluzsa for the leashes, Attliának Somogyi for the gloves, Csilla Horváth for the cat and bird food, to István Zsolt Tóth for the puppy food, Hedvig Heltai and David Cadillac for all the other things, and also to the brain behind the project, György Kaluzsa for organizing the donation drive.
By the second half of the week the heat wave has arrived. It is becoming hotter and hotter every day, which might be very dangerous for our animals. Please be extremely cautious that all your animals have fresh water and shade all day. A little attention can save lives!
Heat Alert! The most important “dos” around our pets: Do not leave animals in a car at all Always take water with you on the road Ensure that there is shade and cover in the garden at all times Always leave a lot of fresh water in front of your pets Hot concrete may cause severe burns Older and sick animals are more sensitive to heat Pets with heart disease might need a change in medication routine Short nosed, sensitive breeds need even more attention Time walks early morning and late night Do not leave a thirsty, overheated pet in distress alone! A bowl of water or drawing attention to the situation might save lives! If possible, leave a bowl of water outside for homeless pets and birds! Signs of heat stroke: Distress, vomiting, panting, losing consciousness, cramps, salivation, extreme high fever
In the case of heat stroke, start cooling the animal IMMEDIATELY and take it to the veterinarian ASAP!
We hope that by next week the extreme heat will cool down… although there is not much hope according to weather stations.
And finally a photo that does not need any comments:
