Dog Log 03.12.2012-03.18.2012
2012.03.21.
It has started, it’s surely started…..kittens, puppies, fox cubs season. The phone calls where help is asked for small animals happen a very often these days. Many times a whole litter gets in trouble with their mother or small milk scented puppies are on the griming streets alone.
However we would help we can’t manage it in every case. We can’t take unvaccinated puppies in the shelter. We can only help them in case there is a foster family by whom they can live until their vaccination program is finished.
We are overflowing with puppies. On the long weekend we got 5 puppies and I haven’t spoken over the Íjász Family. A bit later about them.
So the line was opened on the National Day by Pelü, the 3-4 months old male. He was found in the 17th district in Budapest.
And also from the weekend the Szálkás Family, Dolly, Mazsola and Tádé. They were also left in the 17th district in Budapest.
Izabella was also found here too.
Unfortunately we had to reject more than the triple of the calls. So if you want to have puppies for a few weeks and would give chances for life don’t hesitate! Call us for being a foster family on the following number: 06 70 38 39 480 or write to info@noeallatotthon.hu.
We know that not just cats and dogs get in trouble. We are asked to help birds many times. We get injured birds (crow, pigeon, oriole and some others) almost every day.
Now Kári, the rook needs help. A car hit her and she lost one of her wings. But fortunately she hadn’t lost her vim and hilarious nature. Kári, the smart rook realized soon that people want to help her and she is in secure around them. So she changed to a nice, kind way.
We can’t let her go because of her injury. But we can securely foster her. From now on Kári lives in the big bird run with some similar birds.
If we are talking about other animals than dogs let me tell you some news about our horses. Birs is one of our kindest, nicest and most manageable horses in our herd. Unfortunately he has navicular inflammation, that’s why he has serious pain in his legs and it’s hard to move for him. Our smith made a special horseshoe for him. We thought it will be a regular forging- but were wrong. Birs thought it in another way. He wanted the smith work for his money. (He didn’t know that the smith helps our animals in a good condition and animal friendly way.)
Despite all efforts Birs was horseshoed luckily. And after a few days it seems he got used to it and he can move easily and pain-freely.
If you want to know more about Birs and the other horses then come to NOÉ on every Saturday morning. The girls are waiting for you to help in cleaning our horses! Just ask for Juli!
I have mentioned the Íjász family above and I want to tell you the details now. Originally if we speak about a family it means many puppies and maybe their mother. But now it’s not this case. They are 25. There are 18 adults, and 7 puppies from two breeds. It’s surely not a few. They are the victims of an interception. But it wouldn’t have happened if their owner accepted our help a few days before. Unfortunately it didn't happen that way so we had to think of a solution fast.
The puppies are separated and with foster families and the adults are here in the shelter. We are waiting for the outcome of this story.
Why did animal lovers do something wrong? Why did 25 dogs got in trouble?
There is a new member on our farm as well. He is Kecsita. He was saved from his former owner with the help of animal lovers. He was in really bad conditions. His back leg was broken in December but his owner didn’t pay attention to it. He was living in a piggery. He didn’t have much place to move because he was on a short chain. He couldn’t even stand on his feet since a few months. The other problem was that his nails were very long.
On the day he arrived at the shelter a shepherd cut his nails and we got the doctor to examine him. It turned out that Kecsita is not 3 but rather 13 years old. It doesn’t matter. We love him much better since then. His ears are inflamed and he has fused auditory canals. His eyes are also inflamed and some of his teeth are missing. His muscles are atrophied but he is a bit overweight. So he fits in real well with handicapped animals in NOÉ. He is a bit worn here and there but he is nice and cooperative. He has to be on a diet and move a lot every day. If he recovers a bit than we have to look after his broken leg. Now he moves better but please if you are here and have time then walk him a bit. Our volunteers will surely help you!

The Cat Rescue Group of NOÉ is organizing the 2nd Cat Day on 1st April from 10 am until 3 pm.
We are waiting for everybody who loves cats and wants to spend a day in our Pethome. Children and adults can also come to our event. There will be some programs and guests as well.
Come on cat lovers! Show us how many of you are for the cats!
The main prize of lottery is a Swarovski jeweler!
Many little makes a mickle- the coin action continues!
The Hungarian National Bank withdrawed the 1 and 2 Ft coins on 1st March 2008. The NOÉ Pethome Foundation asks you to collect all of your 1 and 2 Ft coins from your drawer and give it to the Pethome.
You can hand them in on our 17th district site or put it to the piggybank. There is no time limit-but the action ends on 1st June 2012.
Please, take into account that we need our entire animal rescue group so we cannot give a lift for the coins. (It is because we can’t let the rescue group go for the money instead of helping an animal!). So we kindly ask you to collect the coins just in case you can take it here!
Don’t forget that many little makes a mickle! From the collected money we can probably get one pet operated! More information can be asked at info[at]noeallatotthon.hu.
