Helping days in this Autumn has just finished, the dog houses are lined with straw, pits are covered. Thanks for everyone who has helped us and on the previous two weekends. Weather was also good, the sun was shining a lot.
Those who visit us regurarly are sure to have realized the difference between our horses. There are some who are slim, medium and fleshy (for e.g. everybody thinks that Vipera is pregnant). This can be caused by many things. For example the antedecents, hoariness or the poor food conversion. Four of our horses seemed to slim. That’s why after a visit by the doctor they got their teeth grating. Some of you may be courious now on what does this mean!
The teeth of horses are growing and frayed all the time. If it happens with molars in an inappropriate way the molars can get a crest. In this way chewing is painfull for horses. That’s why once a year horses need a visit by the vet and if something is wrong, the vet corrects it. Horses had mixed feelings during the examination and a few of them wanted to escape. But in the end everybody was examined.
Imagine, our fox started to write a blog! It’s a big task for him, but it goes on. You can read on how he came here and what his opinion is on his flatmates, the puppies. You can read his arrival HERE!
Two of our dogs became a TV star! Duci the hungarian pointer and Pimpel from Minimenhely performed on M1. Naurally it was a huge success!
We don’t say that the shelter is a boring place. Something always happens on the farmyard! These are not random, becuse the leaders always tell us what to do. And the main director is Riksa.
First of all you don’t see her just hear her voice together with Füstös. These two dogs are directing everything the farm yard. Once they are herding pigs for left and in the next moment they are herding goats to the right.
Later on we realize that something is not right with Riksa. She is pulling her backlegs. Her story in a nutshell: After a car accident she came to our place from a shelter in Vác. She had a spinal injury. We treated her by acupuncture so she is getting better now but her muscles get tired soon. Who else would be the best friend of Riksa? It is true that an other busybody, Füsti. Those who know their story can imagine that Füsti is now over that process that Riksa goes through now. This short video was shooted about our horse, Carmen. But you can see also how these two dogs manage everything.
On the nameday of Martin we also played with a goose but we didn’t eat it!
I’m happy that you send some pictures of your pets continousely. Here are some examples:
Vincellér
We adopted the little red naughty, Vincellér in January. It was love at first sight. We were struggling him because of some disease (parvo, cough) and some other hosts. We don’t mind that he stays with us. We named Vincellér to Mázli after all hardness. He got better soon and lived in the whole flat and in our heart. He is a beast. He is stealing our shoes and underwears all the time. He is running everywhere: in the flat, on the street. But we love him so much, so I’m not angry with him. He is an angel as well. He follows us everywhere and he cries when we leave him at home. He stole our heart. And as it was said a hard dog attracts all the soft things; so he spends all day in our bed. His head is on the cuishon and we are mulling on is it enough or not. And he has just eight bones, doesn’t he need a nineth one? His host will also make a cake for his first birthday.
Members of Gödöllő and Domony family live together now.
Here is Scoby Doo. I adopted him 1,5 years ago. You can also see his friend, Johny who is just 6 months old. They are really good friends and we can not separate them. Thank you again! Scoby Doo (the brown one) is from Gödöllő and Johny (the small black one) is from Domony.
And on of our older protégé, Zizu from 2008
Zizu came to the Pethome in spring 2008. Pictures speak for themselves, especially the one that was taken here. Who can be resistant seeing these eyes? During three years he was grown up. Now he is really getting us off our foot. Unfortunately this spring he broke his leg splintery after an accident. Thanks for the veteranian in Gyöngyös he can run again. So let me finish here! I ‘d like to thanks you that he can stay with us!
We are still waiting for your pictures!
Foster parents also send us news. Here are some about the dog, Kapocs:
Kapocs, who also listens to the name Peti, is a very handsome dog. He really loves to play. He is rutting us all the time. He is curious and he kisses us all day. He usually steals the dirty tissues and he also plays with a ball. Since he gets just a half dose of sterode his mood is much better. He eats much and his eyes look better. But I can’t tell you such good news from his legs. From his elbows he can’t move them. I usually pet his sole and I see that he feels but he can not move it. To tell you the trouth I’m really waiting for the aqupuncture. In the picture you can see that Kapocs was by the dog beautician of Pocak. It’s funny that Pocak, a mixed dog goes to a beautitian regurarly. So I wated to say that after two hours Kapocs became beautiful like a king Charles spaniel. If he had a bit longer ears I would be sure that he is a spaniel. But his fur and nature is golden retriever. He sais love me all the time. And he loves children. My daughter, Emma had a Haloween party. All the children played with the dogs all night. He gets on well with Pocak and the cats. The only strange thing is that he has no voice. Sometimes he barks a bit, but it doesn’t matter. He loves walking. I don’t remember if I have mentioned or not, but we can’t take him to the field easily. We bought him a transport box that we put to the soft soil. As he walks he seems like a rabbit and when he tired is he asks us to put back to the box. He hadn’t had any conflicts just some small barks. Plea se tell us what to do after Friday. Greetings for everyone, Orsi
And let me tell you a few words about a newly added puppy, Zsák. By the foster parent he is called Maci. As I started the fostering I tried to prepair myself for everything. This is the first time for me and living with a puppy which can be hard. Now then Zsák is not an average puppy. He has it’s characteristics such as be active all day; nibbling on everything which we can reached, colourful, soft or noisy and small; poop and pee wherever he is. But it was just the first day! Now we are on the 4th. If Zsák “attacks” socks I just applause and he listens and stops nibbling for a while. By dinner he is patient, there’s no “I’m so hungry, give me some food” effect. We are really happy to have some visitors. We try to use some diapers. Zsák really wants to have a dream owner as soon as possible. He is smart, he can learn everything so fast. So it would be great to study new things from the new family. The other issue is that his activity and adult size is big, so he needs a garden soon!
In order to receive more of these kind of letters we need to re-home more of our dogs.
Here are those who are sure to have a family:
There are some new residentials in our big aviary. 5 pheasants have arrived (4 female and 1 male). The beautiful birds fit in easy. They get on well with original inhabitants: other birds and the cats.
Neighbours were curious on pheasants. One of the raccoons got up for the strange voice and started to eat some treats.

Now we invite all of our host and supporters for a party. We give some small presents for former hosts. A day with black pets
After All Saints day we want to draw your attention for black pets. They have shiny fur, meaningful eyes, they look slimmer than white ones but nobody likes them. So they are already handicaped when they get here. Why is it like this? We don’t know, but probably that’s the reason why we love them. This day is about black cats and dogs. You can pet them and know more about them but the most important is that you can adopt them. There will be programmes for children all day like quiz and other games. Cookies, bread with lard, mulled wine and tea will wait for our visitors. We are looking forward seeing you!
In the end here are some glee and the NOÉ stud!
I was walking aroun the shelter and for and hour I didn’t see Niki or hear the voice of Meggyes. Some lunch was mentioned, but it was long ago. So I searched for them. By the corral of Carmen I saw this:
First I thought they are crazy. A horse who eats spinach?? But Carmen loved the extra food:
She licked her mouth after it:
One for mummy, an other for the baby…
Do you want a kiss?
Open your mouth...
A grin by Carmen:
I’m not full of spinach everywhere. Please, put some on my nose!
Naturally dogs realised soon that free meal was given away:
Program ont he next day was driving the worms out. Here we also took some funny pics:
But I’m a donkey I won’t swallow this!
Mule with bulging eyes:
This harness was small to Kölyök, but his ears stand like this naturally.
Birs got enough medicine to know it’s not delicious. He tried everything to avoid this again:
Basa tried the method of teeth clamping:
Amálka came again for a second round. We like her not for her brain.
