Tündér Palkó returns home
2011.10.26.

Everybody remembers that approximately two months ago we said goodbye to our beautiful-eyed Tündér Palkó as his broken-wind required fresh air, right? So we sent him to Mátracserpuszta for some fresh air.

After he had left us and gone to the countryside we waited the good news about the state of his health, but the good news just didn’t arrive. Unfortunately he didn’t really get any better. And his behavior changed „a bit” as well…maybe it was the fresh air, but something just went wrong in his tiny mind and from a lovely pony he turned to be a rebelling magic steed. He was continuously creating tension in the well-knit stud, destroyed the electric fence and he was fighting with the other horses. It was hard to believe that our cute, lovey-dovey pony behaved like that, no way, we thought…but actually it was all true! He just didn’t appreciate our goodwill and he thought that if he rebelled in revenge, he would get back to us…and he was right. A couple of weeks ago we got a call with the crucial question: what would happen, if Palko came back to us as life is pretty hard with him on the countryside etc…Obviously we took him back. So on a sunny morning we set off with Meggyes to take the nearly two hour trip to Mátracserpuszta. When we arrived I was curious whether the little terrorist would recognize us or not. He didn’t give a damn about me, while he was looking at Meggyes thoughtfully. In the end he decided to act huffy and turned his back on us. What a nice welcome! I was waiting for the big meeting, the tears of joy and Palkó welcomed us with his back towards us. Fairy ponies are just like this!

Well, once I was so lucky to be at the Zakuszka-farm, - and for a horse-crazy like I am, these places are just “the” places to be - I took advantage of the situation and pampered the horses as much as I could. As always, I fell in love here as well, now with Ribic (sorry Carmen, you know you will always be the first for me). I would like to say thank you for the hospitality to Andi Várkonyi here in this article as well!
(Little bit of extra information: there are only three horse shelters in Hungary: the Zakuszka-farm, the Bottyán Equues Hungária Foundation and ourselves, Neo’s little horse saving team)

After I had spent enough time with the horses, it was time to leave and go back to Noé.

Everybody said goodbye to the little terrorist and I noticed that even if only a little bit, but they would miss him…Don’t try to deny it!
The trip to home was trouble-free. When we arrived we were excited about the other horses’ reaction to Palko’s return. Would they recognize him? Would they take him back or not? Maybe they would be happy to see him again? In case of horses you just don’t know.
Well, the situation was as follows...we threw the little devil into the deep water and hoped that the other horses wouldn’t eat him.
Our stud was looking at Palko with strange eyes but they seemed to be remembering something. They drifted him a little bit just for safety’s sake and when they realized who they had drifted, they left him alone.

Amálka welcomed Palkó with a strange, screaming, stupid face as he hadn’t met Palkó before.

But what’s up with Amálka? We brought him to Noé in exchange for Palkó. The thing is that we got to love this fluffy mule girl so much that we didn’t let her to go back. Moreover, nobody felt like making Amálka go on the horse transporter again...

So, all's well that ends well! We hope Palko’s broken wind won’t get worse (we try to cure him with tea). “Fortunately” the long-awaited rain has arrived as well, so there is no dust at the moment, but problems can start again in summer.

You may be happy now, our beautiful-eyed Palkó is back!
