The leading story of this week is that Füstös CAN WALK! It’s not a trick nor a game, he is definitely using his right back leg. We became so excited about it that we made a video about the event right away.
We are still waiting for those who would take Füstös for a swim every now and then, because it would be very important for him. We’re also waiting for tips about places near Budapest where we are allowed to swim with dogs.
New families arrived to the Shelter.
The ’Dedós family’ was ’accidentally’ left behind all together, eight babies: six males and 2 females. They are very young, about 5-6 weeks old.
The other little family is the ’Gumicukor Family’, they were rescued with their mother right before being put to sleep for good.
As we’ve already mentioned it, having unvaccinated puppies is a huge problem, we can’t keep them in the area of the Shelter. This is why we’re waiting for foster family where we can place them. We’ve lost one of our protégé. Kicsi Mama ran away from her foster parent in the 18th District, from the area of Péceli Road and Zrínyi Street. One of her eyes has been operated recently because of an illness. She is a shy, over 10 years old, black, mixed breed female dog. Please, if anyone saw her or adopted her, let us know!
The rehabilitation of Lajkó is under process, Andi, as she promised, started a diary about how things are. The first Lajkó log includes good and not so good news as well. But there are more good news than bad!
I start with the bad news.
About one and a half months ago, when I took Lajkó out to the farmyard, he peed blood. It wasn’t a bloody pee, it was blood and he had a fever too. I let Meggyes know about it and she took him to the wet on the very next day. It turned out that he had urinary sand what needed to be removed by operation. The first step was decreasing the inflammation. Well, it would have been the first step but as the inflammation wasn’t better after two weeks of treatment our vets decided to operate him. He had the surgary on 8 of July. The surgery went well, he walked back to the emergency room on his own legs.
„The surgery went well, a huge amount of sand was removed from his urinary bladder. Of course a sample was taken and sent to the laboratory for tests because we needed to know what kind of sand was in his urine: the sand happened to be there somehow and the reason was important for further treatments, so we can avoid to happen this again by making his urine aciduluos or alkaline. The lab showed struvit type crystals in his urine, although this type of crystals mainly cause stones instead of sand, like in Lajkó’s case, and it happenes to female dogs most of the time.” …
Although the operation went well the next examination showed lots of sand again. In the future we can avoid this to happen again if we give Lajkó only healing power veterinary dry food. The price of it is high, the Hill’s healing power that was specially made for struvit is about 22.000 HUF/12 kg. Beside this Lajkó gets Vitamin C and a special paste that is against the formation of the stone. Lajkó would desperately need a foster family. In the Shelter it’s very difficult to organize his diet because he shares his kennel with others and it’s very difficult to follow what he eats and how his pee looks like.
My heart is breaking for him, that I can’t get him home. It might seem like a marketing speech but it’s not. Every day when I’m with him and than I leave hime there a little piece of my heart stays with him. He is a perfect dog except his shyness. He is housebroken, gets on well with other dogs and cats as well, he is not pushy, all he wants is some patience and love. His little soul could heal very quickly in a loving family with nice people and he could literally become the perfect dog. As the reader can see it in the further news he is getting to be one perfect doggie.
And now the good news.
Lajkó’s rehabilitation is going very well, actually more than that. It’s partly because due to his illness he sleeps in the emergency room so he spends a lot of time among people. Thanks to this he comes to the gate of his kennel with wagging tail and a huge smile every time someone is there. Of course he is still not perfect and when he leaves the kennel he doesn’t go to the emergency room right away, we sit down at the farmyard, he still stays behind but comparing to his old behaviour he is doing really great. Once, before his operation, Reni and Niki took him out of the Shelter and sat down under a shady bush. I think the photos can tell you everything.
The girls found the way to him on the very first day. And I’m lucky too to find such patient and understanding people like these two.

My dearest Caretakers,
I’m writing you because I want to let you know that I’m feeling very well with my new family, the Présel Family. I spend my days in a huge green garden with their other dog, Digi. We became friends on the first day. We play a lot, I eat a lot, I’ve already grown and I sleep a lot. My favourite place is the area in front of the kitchen and I love lying under the garden table. Lizi was adoted in 2008 and I think we can say that we couldn’t have found a better family for her.
Dear Animal Shelter,
We adopted a lovely little ’tacsi’ girl, Lizi from you in 2008. By now she is called Bambi because of her beatuiful round eyes. Bambi is a great gift in our life AND WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER. She became a cheerful and funny dog. She can be taught for everything. We are so together that she would never run away from us on the street. We couldn’t even imagine our life without her, she is part of our family – WE LOVE HER VERY MUCH. I’m sending you a smiling photo of her – the photo was taken on our wedding where she was in the middle of attention and she had a place there like a family member. WE WANT TO THANK TO THE NOAH’S ARK ANIMAL SHELTER FOR GIVING US ONE OF LIFE’S MIRACLE, THE ABSOLUTE DOGLOVE. YOU FOUND IT AND GAVE IT TO US – IT IS POSSIBLE TO LIVE WITHOUT DOGGIES BUT IT DOESN’T WORTH IT!
And why are we doing this? Because being with Naoh’s is greeeat!
