This Wednesday our horses received their usual hoof trimming. This event was most anticipated since this was Carmen’s first hoof trimming at Noé. We had no idea whether lifting her painful leg would cause any problem for her, so we considered it a good idea that dr. Zoltán Kerekes take part in her hoof care.
Fortunately, our fear was unfounded, since she let her three other hooves attended to without any resistance. Though it is true that she needed to be sedated in order for her painful leg to be treated, we were prepared to do so.
Our vet had to lift her painful leg very gently:

Since so far the condition of her leg did not allow us to perform the hoof trimming, she was indeed in a good need of attendance. She missed several treatments prior to this one as well.
More than an inch could be removed from her hoof:

would go, since on her last session she attempted to kick our farrier several times. She had to be sedated both times.
It did not start any better this time, as well. It took us ten minutes to manage to catch her in the pen (she must have suspected that something was going on):

Then she got her sedated. Although our farrier and us were a little sceptical about it, our vet was absolutely positive that it would work. Our farrier was quite cautious at his first attempt to attend to her: ’Can we be sure that she will not hurt us?! 1... 2... 3...’

From that time on things got paced up, and the treatment of the other horses came and went:

Although Kölyök had his objections about having to stand still for more than ten minutes, we managed to persuade him with a bunch of carrots:

On Friday Carmen had an additional shockwave therapy session, since her prior ones had been very successful as well. We are looking forward to some similar results.
Our horses are still in need of some barley, oats, linseed and cereal-based feed.
