Sometimes dogs in need of urgent help just keep flowing into the Shelter. We were not lacking usual, heartbreaking and eye-watering stories … unfortunately.
We see those stories with total incomprehension when a dog - who was adopted from us many years before - is returned. Unfortunately, this happened to Pöcök as well. Pöcök is a four-year-old Jagdterrier mixed male dog. He is so beautiful and shapely that his purity is not impossible. He had been adopted from us in 2007 but he was returned not so long ago. His previous owners could not handle him, could not handle his terrier temperament to the core and his independence. We still do not know why four years were necessary for this to happen.
Pöcök is a kind and funny dog who loves to snuggle and jumps a metre with his spring legs to call for attention and to gain a little love and caress. It is very easy to become attached to him because of his nice and friendly personality and of his sparkling brown beady eyes. But we are looking for a responsible owner for Pöcök who does not see the pet dog in this temperamental dog. We are looking for an owner with experience in terriers, who is able to handle him and has enough time to handle and educate this very clever and intelligent dog.
Found dogs whose original owners are solely looked for:
Bernát is a three-year-old Leonberg mix male dog. He moved into a garden in Kozma Street. Despite he was wearing an old Klitix flea collar, he was full of ticks. His coat is not so beautiful so he is thought to have been in the street for a long time but he must have had an owner before. He is a very kind, big bear who loves people. His general checkup is ongoing.
Karcsi is an elderly Hungarian Pointer gentleman; he is approximately 9-10 years old. He was found in Rákosliget, in I. Street with a thin leather collar in his neck. He is very nice and friendly, and gets on well with people and other doggies. He is very charming with his grizzled temple and he is an expert of being kind. This old gentleman is very thin but he is in an excellent condition. He is a little deaf and he probably has some small health problems due to his age. But his checkup is in process.
Karcsi thinks it is extremely hot. :)
Útalapú is probably an old – he might be over 10 years old – large, mix female dog. She was found along the M0 motorway in a quite bad condition. She could not even stand up when she was found. The reason for this problem is unknown right now because the lady is not very cooperative. So her age can only be guesstimated and suspected from her general weak status. Her general checkup has already been started.
( update 2011. 06.10 - He is already at home - Hurray!)
Szökevény is a one-year-old Husky mix female dog. She was found along the M0 motorway around Maglód Auchan. She is a kind, beautiful and enthusiastic little girl. Her special distinguishing feature is that one of her eyes is almost white.
Lapát is a two-year-old Labrador mix male dog who was found in the car park of Maglód Auchan. He is a very friendly dog who gets on well with people and other doggies.
Kömény and Disney are two young male dogs who arrived in the shelter together. They love each other so much, they are excellent buddies. But they love people as well as other doggies. Kömény Disney
Hektor is an eleven-year-old mix male dog. He was found on leash in Fővám Square with a letter in his neck. The person who had found him was crying when he brought the dog to us. After reading the letter we were also touched so much.
Dear Good People! Please, take me home. I am an orphan Hektor. We were walking around, looking for food in dustbins with my old owner but he fell down and broke his leg so he was taken to hospital and he cannot move. I am Hektor, eleven years old. There is a cataract on one of my eyes. My owner, Sanyi was 85 year old and we lived from what we found in dustbins. I was beaten a lot so I am very scared. We were always walking and I had some potatos for breakfast because there was nothing else. I ask you kindly to take me home. We lived in a small room. I will love you. I have never been rude. Everybody was taken to temporary accommodation. I have never travelled by a vehicle. Do not leave me here. Hektor. Sometimes I am Heki too.
And the whole letter is true. He is very kind, gentle and gets on well with everybody. He moved into the farmyard with the other elderly animals.
When an animal finds an owner - it is always the best news. Fortunately, it happened many times this week.
Which was not sure last week, it became a fact this week. Cibere and Kisfiú found an owner together.
Cédrus, with crooked foot found an owner as well.
There is an owner for Kukucs, the miniature Schnauzer.
The last puppy from Agyagos family, Kerek.
Vejke, from Vadas family.
Mézes,the rabbit.
The lead story of the week is that Fruzsi, the elderly German Pointer lady, who was brought to us because of the death of her owner also moved to a new owner. Moreover, she moved to the friends of her previous owner, to a family she knows and to a dog she knows as well. She was so happy after the chaos around her that we are sure some more nice years are expected in the life of this 13-year-old lady.
We also received news from our previous protégés.
"As I have promised at the adoption, I am writing some words about Alex …although I could summarize it in one word: HE IS PERFECT :)
When I first saw Alex’s pictures on your website he seemed to me that we had known each other for a long time. The same feelings occurred when I first met him. So it was not a question whether to chose him or not. Although he is basically a friendly dog his trust had to be deserved in order to get to know his real personality.
He adapted himself perfectly in our family within one day and nowadays he acts as a mentor for our other two dogs, educates and supervises them. He loves walking and hunting as well so we have to take care of him very much because he would have run after a rabbit or a deer if he hadn’t been on leash. The situation is the same around the house, but fortunately cats do not visit the garden any more. It was quite frightening when the neighbour’s cat had come into to garden and it almost became Alex’s prey. Alex thinks our ferrets are potential preys for him as well; he salivates and tries to catch them when he sees them. So, unfortunately, they are not able to get to know each other.
Despite his age, Alex plays a lot; he likes chasing and wrestling especially with me (so I usually have bruises:)). Interestingly, he does not really start running and playing with other dogs. He would like to play with them but if the others initiate he prefers to come back to me. He does the same with the ball, he looks at it, and he likes it when we throw it but he does not follow it at all. All in all, he is a devoted, absolutely kind and joyful friend :) I am very happy to have found it on the website of Noé Animal Shelter!
I am sending here some pictures of Alex. With these pictures he greets the people who took care of him and I would like to say thank you for him:"
Pilla :) "I can hardly believe that it was a year ago when I adopted this missy from the Shelter. She enjoys herself very much and as you can see in the pictures she put on some weight during winter. Sometimes she is quite naughty but she can apologize so sweetly that nobody is angry with her. Unfortunately, she remained too afraid, she always gets frightened very easily.:( She wakes up my son every morning on schooldays. My kid is totally wet but she does not finish until my son gets up:) Briefly, we LOVE her very much and I think she loves us too."
Crowley’s temporary owner has sent us some nice pictures again. This young gentleman has totally recovered and expects the arrival of potential owners.
I think those who know Zoli a little are aware that he is only absolutely happy when he is able to be among his protégés. That is the reason why many residents in the animal shelter greet him as their “daddy”. He has been pictured with his newest friends: Azil, the fox and a little goose.
And with Pikula, our coati who still adores Zoli.
The pictures have been taken by Károly Schrerer, many thanks!
The range of our animals has been broadened with some unusual residents – although just temporarily. Three tiny orphan gophers needed help this week.
