The Supporters for Animals Foundation asked us to help Grimm, they brought him to us, and of course he was immediately hospitalized at the Csipet-Csapat Veterinary Center.
His former owner, who had given him up, said his tail had been stuck somewhere for about 3 weeks. And he doesn't understand why he's like that, when he didn't take him to the doctor, but he put a powder on him...
Grimm was born in 2011, hasn't had a vaccination in years, he was infested with fleas. His tail was brutally ulcerated, inflamed, swollen, spit on by flies and swarming with maggots. Almost certainly it was not stuck somewhere, it was grossly swollen, already ulcerated, very - very painful.
At the Csipet-Cspat Veterinary Centre they amputated his tail and removed all the tissue affected by the tumour. Unfortunately, it was all very close to the rectum and affected a huge area, They practically made a new butt for this beautiful dog.
He really, really needs the fingers crossed for several reasons: that his wound healing is uncomplicated due to the brutal tumour, that he doesn't develop a stool holding/voiding problem due to the proximity of the rectum and sphincter and that the tumour doesn't recur. That's a lot of problems, but even with a positive test for heartworm, we will have to deal with the handling of it. His health has already allowed him to recover in the Noah's hospital ward, with of course ongoing medical check-ups.
Grimm is not yet available for adoption, but you can enquire about him at info@noeallatotthon.hu.
