Melissa came from Püspökladány in a life threathening condition. She was in a lot of pain and a very swollen stomach. She was taken to our vet to the Délpesti Állatgyógyászati Központ és Sebészeti Centrum Clinic. The first news were terrible. Her abdomen was full of liquid. Her heartworm test came back positive. Our fears came true because we were told that the worms took over her body. Her only chance was surgery.
She survived the operation. 5 grown heart worms were removed and 7,7 liter of fluid was sucked out of her abdomen. She was in critical condition but she pulled through the first 24 hours. She had a little breakfast the next day then she was taken back to the Clinic.
She will need to have Advocate spot on every month for the next 1 year and she was put on the Doxycyclin treatment to kill of the smaller worms. Whoever adopts her hast to accept to take her to check ups.
Melissa was born in 2013 and she is a Bernese Mountain dog. We are looking for a new home for her where she will be treated as a full member and where she will be loved for as long as she lives.
She is chipped, neutered and vaccinated.
