Jankó, the dog who has been hit on the head with an axe has developed the tetanus disease.
Although his head wound is healing nicely, the sutures have been taken out and his senses have cleared up a lot but we have noticed that he can't open his eyes and his face started to become distorted.
Today at the Délpest Vet Clinic he was diagnosed with the tetanus disease. His treatment has started right away. He is getting infusions, serum and he has to be in darknes and he has to rest. He has to fight for his life again. :(
Here is some information on the tetanus disease:
It often ends in death and it is contagious. The bacteria called Clostridium tetani and it's spores all over the place like on the ground and in the soil. If the spores get into a wound and goes deaper into it where there is no air then it starts to multiply and produce toxins which damage the muscle moving nerves and causes paralysis and cramps. It also damages the heart.
Normally dogs are not receptive to this disease and there is no vaccination protocoll for this for dogs.
After he heals, he will be castrated and vaccinated we will look for a new owner for him.
